Absolutely! I did my research and determined that Blu was the superior technology and bought a Sony player in Sept 07. I've been buying movies like a madman ever since. The Paramount/Universal defection made me nervous but I knew that Blu would win out.

i always knew the PS3 had blu-ray, but the primary reason i bought it was because i was happy with the PS1 and PS2, so the PS3 was the logical progression for me. at the time i would have said "i don't care" simply because i didn't know much about the hi-def war. it wasn't until shortly afterwards that i found this site and started to learn about supporting studios, how MS was trying to sabotage hi-def, and hd-dvd's inferiority. that's when i turned pro-blu.
never touched hd-dvd and haven't even bought a dvd since the PS3 was unpacked.

When I looked at the list of manufacturers backing Blu-Ray I never thought twice about my choice. I obviously have been a longtime Pioneer fan (I still have a Pio laserdisc player) and a longtime home theater buff. I have always tried to keep an eye on what's hot and what's not, and for me it was Blu-Ray or no way.
I'm happy my 100th post was about my allegiance to Blu-Ray

I knew I'd be getting a PS3 from the day it was announced cause I've always been a PS gamer because of GTA, Metal Gear Solid, & Gran Turismo. So when I heard they were BD players I was always hoping Blu would win.

Always have been a fan of sony (not a fanboy) and supported Blu Ray over HD-DVD since day one. I could not afford a HDTV at the time Blu Ray was announced but argued its dominance until I was able to afford a HDTV (already had a ps3 at that point.)
You know you spend so much more money investing in somthing when it is first released and many people may question as to wether or not it was a good idea. The way I see it, over the next several years, everytime when I purchase a Blu Ray I will always remember back to the days when purchasing a Blu Ray was so important to helping this format succeed. I will remember that I made (some impact) that helped to make this product mainstream. If it was educating others on why they should spend their money on Blu Ray and not HD-DVD, or simply buying a few blu rays and waiting for the sales numbers each week. So to me Blu Ray is much more meaningful as it would have been if I just waited around like the millions of people did to see which format would succeed before investing.

At first I didn't know the difference. I heard HD-DVD and assumed that was, just as it sounds, HD-DVD's. I just thought Blu was Sony trying to distinguish itself but didn't know there was a FORMAT difference. Then I looked into it and from there I was Blu. Simply a superior format. So I guess.. I was always for Blu since it's not like I was for anything before it. Make sense?

Once I got my PS3 last March, I was 100% Blu. Before that, ehh didn't know too much about either. However, one main reason I purchased the PS3 was for Blu so. . .

As far as knowing which format would win, I always told people Blu-ray. I never recommended HD-DVD to anyone. I did however purchase the HD-DVD add-on for the XBOX 360 just to compare the two. I had about 9 movies including the 5 free ones.

Blu all the way!

Knowing Sony was taking the lead on blu ray, I backed them from day one. With the success this company has had and looking at who was backing them from the start, I knew that they would win out, just did not think the war would last as long and now knowing it was microsoft who was behind this lasting this long, I now have a great dis-like for this company now.

Looking at Apple now!

I was backing it over a year before it came out.
I think before, it had this disc protection thing like the UMDs, but they scrapped it.

same here, and made initial decision to go blu primarily based on studio support. later on learned about premium lossless content

In 2001-2002 the early Blu-ray prototypes were demoed at DV Expo West (and was it CES LV?) for Pro Video use. That was fairly convincing. When Sony plus Matsushita (Panasonic) plus Pioneer were on-board for consumer Blu-ray I was sold and became a full supporter.

BD exclusive since May of 2006, mainly based on the technical superiority of the format and the exclusive studios. 278 BDs and counting...

I've been 100% Blu-Ray since I first read the specs of HD DUD (way before either format was introduced) and found them to be inferior. Then came CE support and Studio support... further cimenting my stance.
I NEVER gave HD DUD an aftertought (except to bash red ants that is... ).
