So it's okay to read those two after Book VII, rather than before I start Wizard and Glass?

I just read Talisman for the umpteenth time last year. Black House I got about 50 pages in and couldn't continue. I may need to give it another go.

Actually, if you don't mind putting the series aside, you should probably read Black House before you continue. It's not a must, but if I had to do it for the first time, that's what I would do. It's actually a really good book. Once things start going, it'll be hard for you to put it down.

Perhaps I will dig it out then, allowing myself to deal with some frustration of waiting to find out what happens on that God forsaken train.

I won't wait four years like some of you, but a few weeks might be a good penance.

This is cool. I just found out about it a couple days ago. I don't know how long it will be around. You can download the whole thing on itunes for $3.99, each segment is about a minute and a half to two minutes long. The last one should be up soon and I don't know if they will take it down after that or leave it up.

I don't think it's going to get pulled down too quickly. There's additional info on Stephen's site with some additional clips you can watch, like the trailer in high definition and some behind the scenes stuff.

doby, did you ever finish The Black House? I thought is was really good, but not as good as The Talisman. IMO, The Black House took about 200 pages to really get going. I would skim/speed read through the first couple hundred pages and then the sh*t hits the fan!

I haven't read Insomina, but it is on my list.

{See the first line in my script below}

To think one day there will be a movie trilogy to rival the LORD OF THE RINGS...

big dark tower fan here. I have read the first few chapters of the Gunslinger many times. how cool would it be if Clint Eastwood directed The Gunslinger movie.

a mini series on hbo or showtime would be the best way to do it

You think? I don't know, I am not a big fan of TV mini series...doesn't seem they can ever get the same intensity as an R-rated flick. I do like the idea of Clint Eastwood directing. I think Peter Jackson directing a full-on film adaptation would be absolutely mind-blowing though

I read the first series of graphic novels, how is the second one? I think it's called The Long Road Home?

yes in the past it has been problem but I think with stuff like the Sopranos, Deadwood, OZ and such coming out the level of intensity can be as high and gritty as a full length R rated flick.

That's true, HBO can put out some high-quality stuff. Just afraid of television ruining my beloved Dark Tower like they did with the Stand mini-series. Actually that's a bit harsh...I never really even gave that series a chance honestly.
