list of BDs in 1080i

my boss just got a ps3 a few months ago and i've been letting him borrow blu-rays of mine here and there...his tv only outputs in 1080i and he asked me to get him movies in that resolution b/c he says the 1080p movies get downscaled...i wouldnt know for sure since my tv does display 1080p.

anyway, i tried looking around for a list but couldnt find one...only ones i can think of is most of the concert blu-rays are filmed in 1080i

i went thru my blu-rays looking at the back of the cases for resolution and listed any i have that support 1080i...seems like there arent many at all, or atleast from the ones i have..well it maybe be useful to more than just my boss...any help would be appreciated

You shure those are 1080i only? Im too lazy to walk across the room and look at the case.

Any BD movie should play at 1080i on the PS3. It is games that do not scale. So if the game has no 1080i it will get scaled to the next lowest resolution he selected that his tv can handle. Often this is a problem for older HDTV's that only display 480i/p and 1080i skipping 720p, as most games are 720p resolution so games would be displayed in 480p.

If he has a 1080i TV, unless he has an old front/rear projector, what he really has is 720p

He should set it to that

None of those are 1080i, all are 1080p. Pirates 3 has a typo on the packaging that says 1080i

Really, the only stuff you'll see 1080i is stuff filmed on HD video cameras in a live settting

Just watch any 1080p movie, he'll see it in 1080i.

Downscaled? Will there be any difference with movies originally shot in 1080i ? He will always see 1080i anyway.

people hear crap from misinformed sales reps and believe it, pisses me off.

I had this guy that manages a local video store tell me that Sony has just about gone bankrupt from the blu-ray format and the banks are recalling their loans. He said blu-ray wont be around long so they wont be investing in that format. ...I looked at my wife, and was like WTF??, I just agreed as he seemed to know it all(one of those) and I said "we'll see" Where he heard or read this I dont know, but telling customers that crap is kinda bad. but I have a good feeling blu-ray will most likely out live that video rental store

Why doesn't anybody understand that he was just joking? The joke was actually already explained. Those are some of the best looking BD's available. They wouldn't be 1080i.
