HDScape's BDs are 1080i instead of 1080p per cover box

Over the past few weeks we have been getting a lot of phone calls and emails about this signal issue. We have found the problem but let me give you some background to explain how this problem came to be.

We began production of our High Definition content for HD DVD almost a year and a half ago. At that time, with a background in Standard Definition scenic content, we were very enthusiastic about the potential the new HD formats offered.

We began production with the HD DVD version of our titles. HD DVD is far easier to author, and the tools where just arriving on the market for 'prosumer' authoring. We were in fact among the first independent production companies when the new HD formats hit the market. The
authoring company we work with was just entering the HD market as well, and spent a significant amount of time learning about and debugging the new HD authoring software.

The fact of the matter is that we were still learning about High Definition when we released our titles. We did in fact release our content in 1080i on HD DVD, and several months later on Blu-ray.

Unfortunately, there are no players on the market, blu-ray or HD DVD, except for the Playstation 3 that will tell the user what the source content on the disc is. We were not well informed, and had not known that our content was in fact 1080i prior to these emails.

While we stand behind our product quality, and have received many emails from customers expressing how happy they are with their purchase of HDScape programs, we recognize that we have a responsibility to consumers like yourself who feel mislead. Every player we have seen is capable of deinterlacing our HDScape content without a problem, with the rare exception of certain home theater set-ups. At this point, we believe those unique cases are HDMI related, as they are not consistent among all players. We are working hard to determine the source of that problem but have been unable to duplicate any deinterlacing picture quality issues.

If you are unhappy with your purchase, we will refund the purchase price of your HDScape programs.

How can you not know what you're encoding. This is either a very lame excuse or the person in charge of encoding should be fired.

Sounds it doesn't matter should there be no PS3 in the market which is capable to reveal that... Blame PS3!
