What there called....in a sense.... is nothing more than just names (dts-HD,Tru-HD,uncommpressed pcm) they all end up the same way, converted into pcm. with tru-hd having 2 to 4 mbps,dts-hd 6.9 mbps, and pcm 6.9 mbps. the only one that does not get decoded is pcm because it already is.

What do you mean by 'properly'? You think bitstreaming is the only proper way to output losslessly compressed audio?
The PS3 will never be able to bitstream and decode Lossless streams. That is what i mean by properly. You want it all buy a standalone. (And I do own a 80g PS3 btw)

The PS3 already decodes Dolby True HD internally. A future System Software has been confirmed to allow internal decoding of DTS-HD MA.

I know they are the same thing. If it is decoded by the player, then you can take advantage of pip and commentary. If decoded by the receiver then you can't. Lossless audio is still that lossless. No matter if pcm , dts , true hd. whatever. The fact is the ps3 is limited.

Think more like.... What are your thoughts on Digital Distribution and how long do you think it will be until it takes over physical discs likes Blu-ray?
In reality, the answer to that is 5 yrs at least if not longer.

there are MANY reasons why that is the case.

I was going to ask when the PS9 was going to come out. I remember seeing a commercial for it like 7 years ago.

two questions (mostlikely not the first time)

what about DTS-HD MA

can they rearrange the menus so that "turn it off" is always on the menu (when you hit PS) and always in the same place or something else that makes automation easier.

They were going to discontinue them but it looks like they have rethought that... at least here in the US.
