2nd Time My PS3 Has Died!!

WTF Sony! First time it just wouldnt display anything to the TV. Now this one wont read the discs! Thats bull and they still want me to pay 150! I had the warrenty at BB and they told me that they can only give me 40gb and that one wont be covered from the warrenty that i paid for. Luckily i can send in my system to BB and they are refunding my 599 on a gift card. This sucks as GTA is just around the corner!

If you still want a PS3, I would wait for the 80gb MGS Bundle. It will be released in June and with the Dualshock 3. IMHO I would rather have MGS over Motorstorm any day.

Im going to get a 40gb when i get my gift card then when the 80gb ill get that since i will still have money left on the card and just pay the differance. Then move the 40gb to my kids room.

Sucks though. I use my PS3 all the time, never had any trouble with it at all. And yet I have a friend whose PS3 stopped reading discs too. I told him it was because he had a power outage and it wasn't on a surge protector.
Not sure if it was or not, but he has a new one now and it works fine.
You could always go through Sony and not BBy, they will exchange it as well since it is still under warrantee.

just upgrade the 40gbs harddrive to 160gb....hard drives are cheap know a days if you know were to order from....

Don't hate on Sony, their failure rate for the PS3 is less than 1%....If you do want to hate, then hate microsoft's 13% failure rate for the xbox 360

Thd reason i was upset at Sony was becaure they wanted me to pay 150 for a system that should be under warrenty. The first time my PS died i got it replaced at BB around november. Thats a new system and should be still covered and they said no becaure i purchased the original over a year ago. Thats BS

I told them plenty more than just that. Then i got a call from a supervisor and said that he heard the recording. He said my system is covered. I told him to send the coffin just in case i want my 60gb fixed.

13% percent? I highly doubt they have dropped a full 17% failure rate in a just a few months. I thought it was around the 30% +

I agree. Mine just gave out after 4 months of owning it. Same deal with the disks not working. Not to poke the flame, but my 360 that I had for nearly a year didn't give me any problems. I'm just pissed that this happens a week before GTA4 releases.

This is non-sense...your just a disgruntled XBOX 360 owner who makes up stories. Everyone knows that PS3's don't die because...they live in the soul of the gaming world.

First, Sony does not offer the extended warranty its from BB, Gamestop, etc...so any problem with your PS3 you should head over to BB or where ever you bought it.

I'm on my third PS3, 1st one (at launch) would not take any disc, returned to Sony and got a new one back. That one died 8 month's later (would turn on and after 15 seconds freeze) and returned to Sony but got a refurbed back and so far so good.

ive had 3 360s in 6 months then went with ps3. over a year and no issues. i was at gamestop yesterday and i asked if they get a lot of ps3s returned or faulty. they said they hardly ever get them returned but 360s still have major issues. i believe it.

my friend whos been with xbox since they came out just ditched his 360 for a ps3. After the 360 died for the 3rd time he was done with it.

Although after the latest firmware whenever i do Folding@home my fan kicks into 360 mode. Anyone else have this problem?

had my 360 since 2-3 mo after launch its worked great ever since, had my ps3's since dec.31 of launch year both have worked great ... both are good systems

If you read the thread its a new PS3. I returned my orginal in October and got a new one at Best Buy. It should still be covered and it is. A supervisor at Sony called me and apologized
