Default My PS3 Died :(

So it seems my PS3 has died.

Two nights ago put in Eagle Eye Blu Ray...it froze(Blank screen) up after hitting play, didn't think anything of it reset the ps3 and it played the movie just fine.

Yesterday I played about 2hrs R2 Co-op and then right before finishing up the game froze right after the match finished before going to the stats screen. I turned it off and came back hours later and played like 2-3 Co-op matches and then it froze again right before the stats screen showed up, reset and did it again the first match. So I reset the PS3 again, turned it off with the switch, unplugged it etc etc let it sit and tried again.

Now I cant even get into R2 it freezes after Hitting Start. Tried a few other games and basically same issues.

So my Question is this. I bought my PS3 8/07 from wal-mart. I bought the extended warranty thing they offer there. Is it like some where I can just box it up and bring it in and get a new one? or do I have to go through a bunch of hoops and shit?

Thats something you need to call Wal-Mart about as they would be handling the warranty.

If their warranty service is anything liek bestbuy's, just box everything up, and take it to the store. They should replace it with a new one right there. At least thats how it works at bby.

Oh my bad, lol.

My 'advice' is to backup your data, then box it up and bring in your receipt with the extended warranty and state yours is broken.

other stores like Target have you call an 800 number so they can ship a prepaid shipping label for you to send the item to them instead. They do not do the fix/change at the stores... so, I mention this just so you're prepared for the eventuality if this is the case at Wal mart...

good luck!

Yep, this was the case. I just got back from Wal-Mart and I need to call this 800 number/file on-line, and ship it into them for repair....Ugh this sucks!!!!

I know I hate it when it happens... and worst thing is they don't explain that when they sell you the extended service plan...

Anyways... hope you get that fixed soon!

Ok.......so I went to test it one last time and it worked fine in and out of games etc. I still have plenty of time left on the warranty....so I'm thinking of seeing how long it will "last".

Could this have been just a weird Fluke? Maybe dirty lens that "cleaned" itself?

Thats weird. Yeah, dont send it till its complety dead or they'll just send it back saying "its not broken" or " can't fix something that works"

Well i think walmart doesnt do the extended warranty

theres a company that works with wal mart.

Youll most likely need your receipt..Usually when you get a extended warranty they also give you a card or paper with the name of the company and number for info.

Ok so my first playstation 3 did that.
I was playing and it froze then it wouldnt even boot up to the loading screen.

It was a bad hard drive. They had me try to re-seat my harddrive then when that didnt work i had to get a new one. Underwarranty got me a brand new one.

Anyways perhaps by you taking it to walmart being for a car ride may have made a good connection.

I would back up your hard drive right away cauze you dont want to lose that info.

Yep that's what they told me they don't handle it, they outsource it to another company so can't do anything for me. I might have been able to argue with a manager and get somewhere but didn't feel like the fight today.

hahaha yeah I don't think I can go that route. I mean worst case I paid the 28bucks I'll ship it in and wait for it to be repaired.

It was working when I went to test it one last time before the box up and phone call. So I'm not going to send it in until it is broken 100% of the time so I don't get the....."I'm sorry sir it is working fine" after waiting a few weeks and then go through the same process when it does break.

Yeah it sucks big time...I really don't understand it. I have another friend who probably uses like I do very casually under 10hrs a week on a good week and he had his go out about a month ago same problem. I have another friend who RAPES the shit out of it 3-6hrs a day depending on the day and working fine.

I have the shipping tag being sent to me now which takes 5-7days and then they said it will be 2-3business weeks. So I'm going to be without my Ps3 for about a month or more. This is going to set my Resistance2 Plat back quite aways and then Killzone will be out.
