I would be interested in the 606, but only if it runs cooler than the 605, which I've heard runs very hot.

are there any problems with the 705, like firmware updates that can only be done by a service center?

You know what I've done to help the heat situation? Turned my Targus laptop cooler upside down and have the two fans draw out the heat from the vents at the top of my Onkyo. When I first tried this I didn't think it was going to work very well, but it actually works very well, to my surprise.

So check out the TX-SR805.
THX Ultra2 certifiation, 130 Wattsx7. $679 with free shipping from Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR805...9392359&sr=8-1

MSRP was $1099

Uses high end PCM1796 Burr Brown DAC's like the 875 and 905, which to find in other manufacturer's receivers you have to jump up to the $5,000 Yamaha RX-Z11 and $5,000 Denon 5308CI.

I'm sure there is, but if you want to wait for it to hit those prices, we'll see you at this time next year.

true. when the 806 comes out, it will be no telling how much.

the move from the 605 to the 805 would be money well spent i think. doby do you know of any problems with the 805, like firmware updates?
