If there is going to be a lot of cross overs in upcoming Marvel films, I am all for it. That is one thing I did not really like about preivous films, there was no mention of other properties or the chance of cameos from other characters mostly because of different studios owning the names.

Now that Marvel is handling things, I think the movies will get better and I think Avengers will happen. The only thing that could derail the Avengers movie would be for the lead in movies to bomb. If Iron Man is any indication, these movies are not going to bomb. Just gotta wait to see how Hulk does.

Iron Man is already a sucess, considering ive only seen 1 negative review and thats by the guy who says Avengers is def not happening. And alot of people are looking foward to Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk has something working against it though. Hulk. Not the character, the last movie. Many will think it is a true sequel and not want to see it. Not that Hulk was a bad movie, just not many people liked it. I myself thought the pacing was horrible and it felt really slow. It took an hour to get going. Even now if I watch it, I just skip to the Hulk parts.

Iron Man doesnt have previous movies working against it, other then just bad superhero movies in general. I dont think Hulk will bomb, unless it is a god aweful movie. I hope it is done well and I am looking forward to it.

Yes HULK is weighing Incredible Hulk down, but I dont believe it effects it much. Anyone that saw the first will realize its a differant movie. And I would assume that they will take into account in the numbers of that issue. But I dont believe it will be an issue

Captain America (2009) - Distributed by Paramount Pictures - Writer David Self engaged[1]
Thor (2009) - Writer Mark Protosevich engaged[1] Matthew Vaughn was negotiated with to direct in 2007.[2]

So why next year would they only put out Wolverine? Makes no sense.
I saw a blurb a couple of months back that the Thor script was off-the-charts cool but it was probably going to take $400M to shoot it. IIRC Marvel's credit facility caps single-picture costs at $200M so they're going to have to make some very tough choices to get that one done.

I *really* doubt that we'll see a Captain America movie in the next couple of years as I doubt the overseas box office would be there for that sort of thing right now. Marvel's nothing if not smart, they'll punt this until America is a bit more popular on the world stage.

IIRC there's a possibility that the actors' union may strike during the summer / fall. Marvel's on record that they'll not be rushing to complete any pictures as they see them all as too valuable to sacrafice to short timelines. If they only roll out the Wolverine pic next year this will be the reason. I believe Kevin Fiege referred specifically to the potential of a strike recently as a reason they may have only one movie next year.

My question is which Cap would it be? It was pretty big with the death of Cap, some news outlets even covered it. Rogers has been replaced. Would Marvel stick with him, or give Bucky his time in the spot light?

Yeah, strike is the only reason I only see 1 Marvel movie next year. But I guess its better than the annual possible 1 DC shoots out.

I really doubt the world hating the US will stop a Captain America movie. It will happen soon, maybe not next year, but likely 2010 which will see a POSSIBLE, not def. but POSSIBLE

Spiderman 4
Iron Man 2
Captain America
Thor
XMen 4
Magneto

It will likely only be 2 or 3/5 but I could see 4 of them being made since Magneto is basically def.

If they have a good script, they can still get a movie out in a year. It depends on how much post would be needed, and how many special effects are used. They could easilly shoot for a late summer release also.

Its possible to come out next year, though I doubt it. Even though Transformers 2 hasnt started shooting yet.

Well he did a good job with Iron Man. Hopefully him and Zak Penn do a great job. I also enjoyed seeing him having a very minor role as Starks *****

Iron Man 2 is already being planned for 2010. More will come out after the weekend.

Jon Favreau planned Iron Man as the first in a trilogy, and has signed on all the original actors.[9] Paramount chief executive officer Brad Grey expects a 2010 release date for the second movie of the series.[75] Favreau believes sequels will allow a latitude in tone,[4] and explore darker story elements such as alcoholism, which he intentionally set aside from the first film.[2] Favreau feels depicting Iron Man's nemesis, the Mandarin, who was created as a metaphor for communism, will be challenging, as he finds the character dated.[4] He also wants to streamline the effort it takes for Stark to put on his armor, considering the "assembly line" effort he makes in the first film.[51]
Downey noted "the next one is about what do you do with the rest of your life once you've completely changed. [...] I think the drinking and all that stuff would be a good way to confront his age, to confront his doubts, to confront the fact that maybe Pepper gets a boyfriend." Downey and Favreau met with Shane Black, who suggested they model Stark on Robert Oppenheimer, who became depressed with being "the destroyer of worlds" after working on the Manhattan Project.[76]
As much of his screentime was cut from the film, Terrence Howard is anticipating becoming War Machine in the sequel.[77] Howard said he would like to follow the slow arc of the comics with Rhodes temporarily becoming Iron Man while Stark succumbs to alcohol, joking "I don't want to introduce War Machine too early for my own monetary benefit."[78]
Downey is reprising his role for a cameo appearance in The Incredible Hulk (2008).[79] Favreau has also expressed interest in directing Downey as the character in an Avengers movie.[80]

I'm probably in the minority but I'd love to see Rogers and I'd love to see a WW II era period piece ala the classic CA books from way back when I was a kid.

Yeah, and they could have had David Hasselhoff play Nick Fury again as well.

I know almost nothing about Thor, but I might look forward to his movie the most. I just like the character I guess.
