Red Dawn remake - why mess with classics :P

Speaking of war movie remakes, MGM is moving forward with an updated version of John Milius' 1984 Cold War drama Red Dawn, about a group of teens who rebuff a commie invasion of America. The studio has recruited Red Eye screenwriter Carl Ellsworth to pen a post-9/11 take on the story.

Sounds... great. Yeah. Sure. I know the original made a few slightly-plausible changes to history to set it up, what will they have to do this time? When USSR collapsed most of it collapsed into China? Or they could call it White (or Blue or Striped) Dawn and have it the opposite with Americans invading other countries to be faced with rebel youths. Sounds familiar though.

Anyway, next thing you know someone will pull up the AFI Top 100 list and see what movie is at least 10 years old that hasn't been remade yet and that's how we'll get new movies (that and sequels). Gone With the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, Casablanca, here we come, nothing's going to be off limits anymore!
