So the problem started on Saturday night and the line on the screen has gotten bigger as time has progressed. it is now about the length of half the screen.

My XBR 2, thank God, no problems. Purchased: July 2007, no contract.

Next one - when it dies- XBR 8 (or 10?) or 50" Kuro/Elite

btw: it's a dead end with SONY. You'll never get satisfaction . .

I thought so as well. However if I had not purchased it I would have to pay for these repairs out of pocket. I would consider Sony a reputable brand.

So, Dave from Sony is finally coming by on Thursday to replace the panel on my television. It took almost a month, I believe, before Sony got someone out here. Im glad its finally getting fixed. I guess thats like almost like getting a new tv, right?

My XBR5 is perfect, never had any problems with it or any of my other sony products for that matter. luck of the draw mabey, just goes to show you what an extended warranty can take care of.

Yes that is exactly it. That line extends the whole scree. It isnt really thick, but it kills all viewing experience.
