What about Night of the Living Dead (1968)? I thought that was coming this year.

These aren't all of Weinstein's announcements. There will be more.

Hopfully future release will include El Cid, Fall of the Roman Empire, and 55 Days at Peking. The first two have recently been beautifully restored and released in lavish SD editions. They'd be great on Blu-ray.

I have diary of the dead PQ is a mixed bag if you will. Lot of lower light shots have a very pronounced softness but there's some relay strong reference quality scenes in there to.

Overall i say it's 3.5 out of 5 for PQ

I am all over the Halloween remake, 1408, and The Mist. Now all they need for October is The Grindhouse.

I don't think that they have Night, only Diary. For some reason I think that Night is public domain but Anchor Bay has the rights to a particular print. I could be wrong. Universal owns the remake.

Nights is public domain, but companies can own certain transfers of it and certain special feature sets.

Weinstein just released a remastered DVD on May 20th, 2008, and said they have intentions to release a Blu-ray version later. Hopefully it comes out soon (especially now that Universal has announced Dawn (2004) and Land, leaving Night as the last in the series that is not on Blu-ray).

Anyone know if Weinstein are going to region-lock their US releases?

I sincerely hope not as i've got my heart set on importing both The Mist and 1408.

They should be region free (although who the hell know anymore it's like guess the region these days) all their HD DVD's where region free, so I'm hoping their blu's are too.

I loved their HD DVD releases the quality were amazing even if my HD DVD player only outputted 1080i.

Wolfcreek and Black Christmas were amazing transfers.

You can get 1408 & Black Christmas on import blu from germany.

Clerks 2 was released on HD-DVD. So I think it won't be much of an effort to port it to blu. The HD-DVD presentation was pretty flawless

Yeah but I only have the Toshiba HD-E1 and it only outputs 1080i. I can't believe at the time I paid £349 for it instead of going for Blu-ray I remember standing there in Curry's going OK! HD or Blu-Ray grrrr.

I kinda love my HD DVD player though I have yet to see a crappy transfer out of the 70 discs I have, still waiting for that blu-ray transfer that will blow me away.
