These are the Rainbow Germaniums I was talking about. You can find them for less, but they're kind of hard to track down. If you're interested, there's a dealer with the screen name 6spdcoupe over on caraudio.com who is a pleasure to deal with. My wife got her Germaniums for 450 shipped. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on that forum as well. The Sound Line series are great as well, and the 265's were around 230 shipped from the same dealer. The Germaniums rival Boston Pro's, another great speaker, at half the price.
Diamond Audio used to make a hell of a component, but from what I understand they changed their manufacturer and the quality has dropped. I had a set of their Hex's that were awesome. Last edited by BStecke; 06-23-2008 at 04:16 AM. |

The HT was 1000 for the speakers and wire and 300 for the Onkyo 605. Then the $1800 TV, and then the stand for it. And then the sofa and then other equipment. PS3, XBOX 360, and HD DVD. Thats a lot of money. So should i spend 5000 bucks on audio when i dont need to.. oh and no im not all about acting like $$#^ at all. So i dont blast my music but play it pretty darn loud. i want a nice car not a hood car... Anyone know much about RIMS haha. How do i figure out what size to get / Last edited by gearyt; 06-25-2008 at 01:46 AM. |

I've always had a sweet spot for Alpine head units, i've got one in my 2002 Trans Am and i couldn't imagine owning a better unit. Also, i love Alpine's component speakers specifically the Type R series. I have a set of those powered by a JL Audio amp. Currently im sporting a JL Audio 13" W7 and i really dont think i'll ever need to get another sub. This sub rocks the house and i'm only pushing it to about half of its capabilities!! JL Audio cant go wrong for subs/amps, and Boston Accoustics makes some of the best component speakers.

You very well may want an 18" sub but I wouldn't. 18s do not have great control and are slow to respond. The size of a box an 18" sub requires will definitely take up the whole rear of your SUV. I think you are wanting to be heard and felt when you are coming down the street? If I am right use that space in a good way. I used to do installs for a living. If you want "BASS" the kind of "BASS" that sets off peoples car alarms, home alarms. I use to drive around in one of my bosses vehicles an old full size Chevy Tahoe. In this vehicle it had sixteen 15" subs and one US AMP to four 15" subs. I don't remember the model # but they are the biggest amps US AMPS made at the time(early 90s) and those who know, KNOW! It also had a mid-hi-end to match. Two 180 amp altenators and six interstate truck batterys. Anyways one time I was out jerking off one night.(showing off to girls). I sat in our local mall parking lot, cranked it up and set off the mall's alarm. If you want bass get six 10", 12", or 15" subs and one-two big "GOOD" amps. Make sure each sub has its own deticated space. Maybe even go "bandpass". You can "tune" your car into a weapon. If I am wrong and you don't want that much bass then one/two 15", 12" sub/s powered right and in a great box will still be very-very nice. I personally have nothing against 18s but I've seen/ heard vehicles with massive amounts of 6 1/2 " woofers, vehicles with thirty 8" subs kill a van with ten 18" subs in SPL. I've even seen an SUV's paint flake off from SPL. That was back when I was a "BASS HEAD" but now I can't even wake up in the morning without my ears hurting. Have fun and whatever you do "get it done right" or your car could be the victim of a bad install. Last edited by mdabb; 06-25-2008 at 03:54 AM. Reason: horrific spelling errors! |

Yes im a bass head. But i dont want it to be super loud always just to impress basically. Also can you get a sub box you can plug in and out when moving stuff in the trunk? Or does the box have to be mounted in. Also do i need to get better speakers (have bose) and what brand subs?

Here is an example/explanation of a "bandpass" enclosure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV8keqI2BME It is similar to a setup I had in a 1990 Cavalier(My 1st Ride) that I took the back seat out of and built a wall with six 12" kicker Competition subs and a HI Fonics Zeus Amp. That car is what got me a job. Then I moved on to other setups in better vehicles. There might be a lot of setups on YOUTUBE that will give you an Idea of what you might like to have yourself. |

Also isnt it better just to replace the speakers built in with the same size and then get a SUB(s) in the trunk? What is the best way to put the box also and i have a INFINITI QX4 (wish it was a qx56 baha) |
