Its not one of my favorite features either but keeping us up-to-date on technical stuff would be great. Right now we have no idea when 2.40 will be released and telling us at least an estimate of around the time of what month would be nice. So far the info bar gets updated weekly with information like what's new on the ps store, which makes no sense because I can check in the ps store.

Really though, for all the free updates and new features I've gotten since I got my PS3 (for free) - this is a small inconvenience.

Are they still doing maintenance? Playstation.com says the network is up and running...

UPDATE: No, I'm not banned :P I just called PSN tech support. The network is currently down, but the Playstation.com site is not showing it. The guy estimated it would be back up around 10PM est.

I signed in and purchased the new Hot Shot's Golf Course; the PS store took the money from my wallet, but it won't download the ad-on.

No doubt, even with it's formerly hefty, I mean hefty, price tag, the PS3 packs so much punch and anybody who knows anything understands that it's worth it. I don't really play online too much anyways, although I might now that I just beat MGS4 and haven't gotten my fill, but the PS store I very often frequent for trailers, themes, wallpapers, demoes, add-ons, etc.
