Flat in the Living room, upright in the bedroom (yeah... insert your crude jokes)

In the living room it's flat so it doesn't get knocked over, better air circulation, etc.... it sits on top of my SACD changer that is on an A/V rack of sorts.

In the Bedroom, that PS3 sits vertically because there isn't enough space for it to sit flat, so I keep it between the t.v. and wall, so it can't fall over (or at least it can't fall too far)

I see no value in putting it upright. Space, heat, functionality, all dictate flat to me.

Thanks to blue-tooth, I keep mine inside a non-glass cabinet of my entertainment center with a ventilation fan in the back. I tried it upright and flat, and noticed that flat got better ventilation for my cabinet. I raised it up on the sides using old DVD cases to get some air movement underneath as well.

So the short answer is: Flat, but but on 1" "stilts" for better ventilation.

Standing tall!! Just because it takes up less space. And all though it still kicks out alot of heat, the unit seems to stay cooler than when laying flat. IMO.

what u mean by "better" explain that to me....cause i dont think the disc experience nothing different when it horizontal or virtical..its centripetal force whether its vertical,,horizontal...5 degrees off virtical remains the same since it a pefect circle...i dont see anything affecting the disc..,when it virtical,,,at the center of the disc,, the head that spins the disc will comes in from the right..and then there is a spindle like thing that come in from the left and lock in disc in place.(if horizontal..its from top and bottom)..just like the ps2..,i mean u could be right but i just want an explaination to what u mean by "better"

I had the PS3 flat until it was extremely loud and hot when I was playing Uncharted. Then, I positioned it upright, and it's been quieter ever since.

I put mine upright just cause it matches my 360 on the other side of my entertainment center. My 360 is upright so it can breathe better so I don't get the RROD otherwise they would both be flat. Yeah, design flaws are great.

I'd put mine Standing Up, i think it looks better, but I don't have an entertainment center that can fit it, it really is a monster

As soon as I saw the title I wondered how long it would take before someone would take a shot at it .The first response did it.

I have the same situation. My entertainment equipment is in a credenza and the PS3 was getting hot in there. So I took it out and set it vertical next to the cabinet. It makes a lot less fan noise this way.

Upright. It was flat in a cupboard shelf, but I moved to the surface for better ventilation and easier access to it. Looks better too.

i keep mine flat...just because it looks right to me flat....and you dont have to worry about it falling over or someone knocking it over.
When i buy my tv stands....i usually look at the shelf room
if theres good room where i can plug stuff in..and have a couple things on it i go for it....never get the ones with cabinets...and i dont crowd my stand...all i have right now is the ps3 by itselt and a couple blu rays / games

Thats just me tho

Upright with blue LED illuminated vertical stand. Looks awesome that way and gets better ventilation as well.
