What News Sony might Announce for This year E3 Expo? - Page 3 - Blu-ray Forum

Well, heres what I think is going to happen:

1. Sony will tout the sucess of MGS4 and compair and contrast the massive sales difference year over year.

2. Sony will officially announce God of War 3, but will have a short non-gameplay trailer

3. Square will not have any news on Final Fantasy XIII

4. Sony Will Focus on Resistance 2 with little or no mention of Killzone 2 (release date confirmed off stage and expect a big push for it come December)

5. New SKU announced, 40 or 120GB HDD (big gap because I can't get a good feel for their position on the storage requirements) will be slightly thiner then current model (not noticible though) will have new smaller chips and will still lack backwards compatibility with PS2 titles. No price cut.

6. Sony will make zero mention of improving classic PSone titles that are available on the PSN.

7. No new PSP, but slim PSP will have new colors

8. Sony shows off White Knight but does little to remedy the lack of RPG's on the PS3 and makes no mention of even adressing the issue.

9. Sony will mention it's new agreements with 3rd parties to mandate trophy support, in game soundtracks. In addition to this Sony will smooth over the lack of 3rd party exclusives with news that several titles this fall will include PS3 exclusive content. (Good example of proof of this Bionic Commando Rearmed)

10. Thankfully no stupid motion/break apart controller, but Sony will discuss a push using the PSN for casual gamers.

11. Sony will show off Naughty Dog's next title

12. Sony will announce the acquisition of Ready at Dawn and show off their new title (possibly Heavenly Sword 2)

13. Home will not get a confirmed release, but new footage and features will attempt to tide us over and keep interest high. Open beta delayed until 2009.

14. Sony Shows InFamous and categorizes it as their flag ship spring 09 title (will have the most footage shown due to it's progress)

I think this covers everything I think will happen. Some I hope I am wrong on big time (especially #'s 6 & 8).

Some of the biggest things at the last E3 still haven't been shown.

HOME, Killzone 2, etc.

We have PS3 commercials that show HOME and in-game video chat (shown with Warhawk) and we just haven't seen anything.

Some of the biggest showcases ended up coming and going with out much of bang (echronome-however you spell it, Haze, etc.)

Last year was the first time I watched an E3 - I was pretty impressed with Sony's presentation - but I'm still waiting on many things they've showcased.

On the other hand, it's not all bad - Sony has provided some of the most incredible and FREE updates to the PS3 in the last year. And half of it wasn't even promised or hinted at.

For me, the E3 is all smoke and mirrors - I'll just take each month as it comes and see what I actually get - chances are we'll be getting some great stuff we weren't even expecting to be great.

I don't know why some of you are still gamers, you focus so much on the bad stuff, never enjoy what's good and what is coming.

- Killzone 2 we know will have a big presence at E3 from the pre-E3 event Sony had.
- Microsoft need a load of third party (usually temporary) exclusives because they lack the huge first and second party support Sony has (I don't know why so few people realise this)
- I don't understand why people are so desperate for home and that when they're desperate for something they start knocking it saying stuff like it'll never come out or I don't care anymore (when they clearly do).

When has Warhawk been shown with video chat!? You really expect a game like that to have resources taken away for something so unnecessary as video chat?

Really? I don't think so, I think my opinion is just a bit more grounded then most. I have a lot of positive predictions, all the game announcements for one. I just don't think they will have allot of footage for these new titles because of how early they are. As a fan I would love to hear big stuff (internet breaking announcements) but few E3's have ever given me that. As far as the RPG's and 3rd parties I just don't see the silver lining in this one yet. I also think that Killzone will be taking a back seat to Resistance, thats why they moved it's release right?

M$'s money hat is proving to be the biggest deterrent for Sony to return to form. I don't like it anymore then you do, but I am glad Sony is not playing along as it's ruining the industry. I would have a few more "positive/big" announcements on there but after Squeenix sold out to M$ and essentially alienated themselves from their fan base I just don't see things making the 180 we all want just yet. Kind of like when M$ held off HD-DVD death with the paramount deal. Still I think my predictions are very positive, just not full of what my Sony E3 would be as a fan, that list is just ridiculous

It was in the commercial - not a personal request from me. I didn't come up with the idea. I don't "expect" anything. Just explaining what I saw.

Download the PS3 eyetoy commercial from the PS Store - it showed them getting an ingame message and pulling it up from the XMB and having a 4 way chat. May be possible now. . . .

I forgot about that one, yes that will be there and be awesome. Sorry if my post seems like a downer for most but don't take it that way. Just seems to me to fit, I will admit that some of what I put in that list is more my frustration on what I think they wont mention (ie: PSone games and RPG's)

I thought your list was a good prediction.

Usually it's just teaser trailers and a cut scene or some "in development video" anyway. I don't want to see video of the developers patting themselves on the back for how awesome their game is going to be.

Just show me the gameplay footage!

I am hoping for some good game trailers though.

I just downloaded that PLAYSTATION Eye video and they're just video chatting in the regular XMB, with the pre-white room interface. There's no indication it's being done in or over Warhawk.

There is a commercial where a guy is playing Warhawk and gets an ingame message and pulls it up and begins to chat.

Was the guy playing Warhawk in that commercial before entering the chat? If not, then I must be thinking of the wrong commercial (it's one of the ones on the PS Store). If so, then perhaps I misunderstood what the commercial was explaining.

It looked to me like a variation of in-game messaging but using the PS3 Eyetoy to video-chat.

It's been a while since I've seen at and I'm not at home - so I'll take your word that I mis-interpreted how it was being interfaced with the game.

My mistake I guess.

Honestly I think Tokyo Game show is going to be where people get some new stuff to really show the winds of change are blowing (hopefully some big new RPG announcements, along with Yakuza 3, The new Platinum Games titles among others) Remember though this is just what I said Sony will show at E3, not what will be there for PS3. There are plenty of big stuff from Sega (Valyire Chronicles, Sonic, Yakuza Kenzan!) and other thrid parties that will be showing PS3 stuff.

Also Square will not even discuss FFXIII until it's August event, and Namco (hopefully) has a new "Tails of" game announcement exclusively for PS3 sometime this month as well (according to Famitsu and the-magicbox.com)

I think RESIDENT EVIL 5 will be shown in a big way. At least thats what im hoping for. Ive come to realize that Capcom has a schedule when it comes to showcasing their games. Usually they show a new Devil May Cry game and after it comes out They start talking about a new resident evil game. Then followed by a new ONIMUSHA game. They definitely have a pattern.

-I would like to see a new OKAMI or something like it.
-I wish they would make a new CHAOS LEGION as well. I personally liked it very much.Sleeper hit for sure.

A lot of good options to choose from. I think that Sony will pull an ace out of their sleeve because there's always a good reason to. A price cut might be in the works, but I'd doubt it. I always thought that with the current generation of hardware out, Sony will always be the most expensive out of the three compaines. Hopefully we'll know more about Home at E3. I'd like this to come out this year. I don't care if there are bugs in it or not because there probably will be, but that can be fixed. There is a six year gap between playstation consoles so playstation 4 would be out in 2012, probably being introduced in 2010. Who knows what that'll be. Maybe some new blu-ray features to come out. Get a confirmed date for Life with Playstation. Possiblity get another firmware update for the ps3 to add something although it would seem that we have everything in the world on the ps3, yet Sony seems to come up with new ideas. A newer model could be in the works. If we get another SKU, we'll have a fifth model added as if we don't already need one more. Would it help if developers could make games on blu-ray discs that are more then 25 GB? I know that Metal gear solid 4 is on a 50 GB disc, but what if you could increase the layers so that you have a 75 GB or 100 GB disc? Could the ps3 even read such a thing? I would bet money that we'll hear something that will be totally unexspected.
