So don't come here acting all high and mighty because you don't like certain films and don't think others should either. I'll watch what I want to watch, buy what I want to buy, and not have some fairly new person come here and try to tell me otherwise.
You were the one who jumped on Grimshaw23 with an insulting attitude, but I think his point is pretty valid. Considering the low number of Blu-Ray releases thus far (looking at this site I came up with 744 which includes movies that have been announced but not released), it just seems rather unlikely that people sporting 300-400 Blu-Rays could truly enjoy every movie they own.

Maybe like you, they do actually like every movie they. But I think what Grimshaw23 was saying is that most people would have to really stretch the meaning of the word "like" to find 300-400 movies in Blu-Ray's current line-up that meet that definition.

(Oh, and my apologies for any grammar or spelling errors before you try to insult me and beat me down for them.)

I have never bought a Blu-Ray just for the Hell of it, yet. That's not to say that I never will. With BATMAN BEGINS coming out on Tuesday, as well as GOTHAM KNIGHTS the same day and BATMAN: THE MOVIE out last week, I am actually thinking buying the campy Adam West Batman movie and possibly GOTHAM KNIGHTS just so that I can rent BB and have a little Batman marathon. I haven't been able to find the Adam West Batman on Blu-Ray at any of the video stores here, so I might have to buy it. And also for the nostalgia factor (my mom and dad once recorded it off of the tv when I was a kid, so that tape was a tape I'd always watch as a kid).

There are very few Blu-Rays on my "must buy" list. A lot of them I'd rather rent than buy and that's for stuff I've seen. I want to rent PLANET EARTH before I purchase it, and I'm waiting to borrow the 5 disc BLADE RUNNER Blu-Ray from a friend of mine.

So, because according to you, if most people wouldn't enjoy "most" of the Blu-Rays that are out, I shouldn't? And the reason I point out spelling or grammar errors is due to the fact that I think there's something wrong with the educational system in this country. But that's a whole other can of worms. But keep in mind, and these are your words here, it only SEEMS rather unlikely that someone could like their collection of 400 Blu-Rays. I personally like all but probably 5 of my discs. I even stated why.

So instead of trying to say "people are buying a film for the hell of it" just because YOU may not like it, just say nothing and let people buy what they want.

It's a shame that these threads become so heated. Buy what you like, when you like and for how much you like. There's no need to justify to anyone especially to those that might judge based on their economy and perspective. Welcome to freedom.

P.S. Hey Clayton! How's that S1 treating you?

Perhaps some people have more dollars than sense.

I agree that people probably have different interpretations of the word "like", or just have lower requirements for buying a movie. Some will buy a movie just because it's cheap. I think a movie is either worth owning, or it's not; the price doesn't really matter.

To me, life's too short to waste 120 minutes on a crappy movie, especially for a 2nd, 3rd, or Xth viewing. But that's just my opinion.

I do find it odd though that so many people feel a need to show off what they have. Their TV, receiver, # of Blu-Rays they own, the # they have coming in the mail, etc. The world doesn't care as much as they seem to think.

I suppose it's human nature to want to show off sometimes, which explains why I have 2 PS3's hooked up to a Sony KDL-70XBR3 LCD inside my '07 Porsche 911 Turbo. I'm debating on upgrading my sub to a Velodyne Signature 1812, but I'm not sure if I need that kind of kick in my car, or if there's even enough room. That thing is a beast.

I really like Ratatoullie and Bridge to Terabitha, and I'm 24. It's simple if I like the movie and I don't have it I might consider buying it, doesn't matter the movie.

Sucks to be a troll, eh?

Anyway, there is nothing wrong with being a grown man and enjoying animated movies. Most of them have themes that you can appreciate as an adult as much as a child could. Particularly so with ALL of the films that you mentioned.

It's ironic that you're saying that people need to grow up, when the one lacking maturity here is obviously you.

For what it's worth, in a recent article from USA Today, someone from Disney said that more than 20% of the audience that went to see Wall-E on opening weekend were adults without children.

I am in my late 30's, I have no kids and I own all three. The only way anyone can think those three movies are not worth watching or owning is that they never saw them. They are all extremely entertaining and fun movies I have seen them all by myself and with my nieces and nephews.

not at all. Most of the movies released are either extremely good classics or brand new releases, the crap (for the most part) has not been released yet. So it makes sense that many would be worth owning.

I think that there three types of people
1) people who don't care for movies
2) renters
3) buyers

I fall in the 3rd. I will buy a movie that I know is good (so the older movies are easy, if i liked it then I rebuy it, if I did not I do not). On the other hand I don't rend. I have enough money and little time I like going down to the HT and popping in a film or like last week bringing a box of films (20+) on vacation, renting does not give me instant access to a film when I want it. So when I go to the store I look at the new releases and pick what sounds interesting. Now maybe I will not like it, but how can I know that before I buy it. So if something is recommended (by people who's taste I know and acknowledge) I will buy it, if something sounds interesting on the box I will buy it. But I only buy movies I want and have every intentio0n on watching.

Not as well as the PS3 I really only use the S1 for films that have PCM on them (or no lossless audio at all) and don't use Java just because of the load times. And I also use it for DVD's.

I like your post by the way, I try not to get so heated but it really seems like these people come here, who have been here less than a half of year I might add, and start questioning my taste in movies. It is insulting to try to say your taste in movies is better than anyone else's and that your choices should be everyone elses. If you choose not to buy 400 Blu-Rays because you don't like the movies that are out, that's your business. If you like 400+ Blu-Rays, great, go buy up as many as you can as Blu-Ray needs all the support it can get.

Hello Lee!

You've come to the right place. Talk it out, friend. Step 1 is knowing you have a problem.
