Default Do you buy blu-ray's just for the hell of it??

Seriously, I have seen grown men have Ice age, Open season and Ratatouille in their blu-ray disc collections. Are you people that OCD you have to own every bluray even if you dont like the movie???

I only buy the blurays of movies I enjoy..but I just find it weird that grown men are buying these kiddy films. Seems odd.

How is it weird? They might enjoy those movies as well. Doesn't mean they just bought them for the hell of it. I only buy the ones I loved the movies of.

Different people like different things - is it really that hard to understand?

And you know the old saying:

"People who buy movies based on video games shouldn't throw stones"

I've bought some movies that were just 'OK' in my book only because they were on sale just because they were on sale.

OP MUST list his movies now

I have a lot of classics (mostly classics and catalog titles actually) and I happen to have Ratatouilli, and I'm waiting to get Cars......... it's because I have a kid..... sorry to disappoint you

What movies do you have??? Everyone has different tastes..... I could go my entire life without ever seeing/seeing again....

POTC
LOTR
Harry Potter
Transformers
Superbad
Iron Man
Dragon Ball zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

to name a few..... Although I will rent Iron Man to give it a fair shake (of course I rented Cloverfield to give it a fair shake, and I wish I would have walked into oncoming traffic rather than watch that movie!!!)

EDIT.... just saw your sig: "Last Blu Ray Purchased, Resident Evil Extension" You couldn't pay me to watch that..... give me Cars/Ratatouili any day!!!!!!!!

I like a lot of Disney movies, I only buy movies I can watch over and over (not necessarily every week or month), but I don't buy movies very often because a lot of movies i can only enjoy once. Ratatouille, Cars and Ice Age are in our collection.

Its funny because I think about every few months there's a thread like this I come across. To answer your question the way you would like to hear it. I just like having a big blu ray collection to make people like you mad. No I don't care about the picture quality or sound quality. I just like to say I'm better than anyone else who does not have at least as many Blu rays as me.

I have no children, but own quite a few classic (pre-Beauty and the Beast)Disney films, mainly because I enjoy the films, a few simply for collector's purposes...

On another note, this might come as a surprise, but at one point animation/G-Rating did not immediatly mean children's film.

Also family films were not "dumbed down"... compare Swiss Family Robinson, Sleeping Beauty or the original Willy Wonka to any of today's "family films" (there are a handful of exceptions, PIXAR being the main one) and you might see one of my main arguements as to the cause of the dumbing down of our country.

Sorry, just wanted to make a point and started into a rant.

I'm in my mid-20's, and have just about every Pixar movie on DVD, with Cars and Ratatouille on BD. And yes, I plan on getting Wall-E in a few months.

I bought them because I like Pixar movies, both because they are good movies, and because of all the little hidden things in them that are fun to spot (e.g. the Pizza Planet truck).

The only ones I don't have are Toy Story 2 (didn't really like it that much, no rush to pay for it) and A Bug's Life (didn't really like it at all).

I also own Aladdin on DVD, because it's my favorite animated movie.

The one thing I might agree with you on, is why people would have them on BD, if not for themselves. A kid's not going to care about the AQ, or the detail of Mater's headlight. S/he just wants to watch a movie.

Wow, I must be a freak. Going on 23 at the end of the month, own every Pixar movie, all the Ice Age movies, most of the DreamWorks annimation movies... I must not be a man or something because I like "kiddy" movies and "horrorfreak" thinks that's odd. But I am glad you're concerned with what other people like instead of just letting others enjoy what they want to. Maybe we should all just go by your high standards of what a man is and what a kiddy movie is. Because none of us should be watching movies like Wall E or Ratatouille that have great messages and great stories and that are a great way of escaping normal life.
