Well our BluRay collection is currently all together since we really don't own anything too kiddy or anything. But in our DVD collection, yes, I have my DVDs all around the house, the kids have their movies in there rooms (they have a TV and DVD player in there room) and then we have alot of DVDs by the TV too.

You're in Ft. Worth, TX. I already think you're not cool.

Seriously, though, do the people who see your movie collection not know that you have a wife and kids? If they don't know, then serious props on keeping the wife away from the mistress -- though bad form on bringing the mistress into the home. If they know about the family, then they already know you have too many family obligations to be truly cool.

I keep all of my DVDs and Blu Rays in the same place, and I have DVDs that I have purchased for my wife (she's content in renting most movies, so haven't bought a Blu for her yet) She also enjoys a lot of the same films, so when I buy Godfather, it'll be equally enjoyed by my wife.....

I got attacked for "where" I keep them, but that's a whole other story.... In the process of painting etc. at a new house, but right now I keep them in a closet in a spare bedroom (although new house has a room off of the theater room that they will be stored in) because I can't keep that many disks in my living room (no dedicated theater room in the current house, can't wait to finish working on the new house so we can move!)

Actually you got attacked for telling people who don't hide their disc like you do showoffs.

But that's water under the bridge

My Blu-ray set-up is in my home studio, so family DVDs and my personal collection don't mix. And I do like it that way

I'm in the process of buying a townhouse. The new place will be much larger than my current apartment, but, in all likelihood, I'll probably still be storing the bulk of my movie collection in my bedroom closet, simply because I'd like to keep my living room clutter-free and because my new bedroom closet is generously big. Right now, most of my Blu-rays and DVDs are kept in plastic containers that I buy at Target, and, although they're not in any sort of alphabetical order, I can easily find what I'm looking for. My favorite Blu-rays (the Hitchcock movies, the James Bond movies, the classic film noir movies) will be in these wooden chests that I'll keep in my living room, though.

Hey, that's not fair. I can't see your location to make fun of where you are.

No, all of the Blu-rays are together. I only have the DVDs separated from Blu-rays.

Yeah, although I do get the OPs point: I wouldn't want Alvin and the Chipmunks touching (the upcoming) Casablanca. I say put the crap Blu-ray movies with the Blu-ray porn. Hopefully, if anyone finds the porn, they'll be to excited by that to care about the crap movies. Although, they might see Alvin and the Chipmunks next to Pirates and report you to the state as a child molester. Such is life.

I'd rather have no wife or kids than risk them messing with my blurays and other high tech stuff ...
hey wait a second, I do indeed have no wife or kids ... my stuff is safe

It would be interesting/curious if we ever see a post like this from a woman on this forum.

Personally, I think my wife is cool, and she's turned me on to some cool films, so it's one big happy collection.

I seriously hope youre joking. If your not, youve already made the "not cool" list in my book. If people make fun of your Alvin next to your 2001 you should knee them in the groin and then proceed to beat them repeatedly with a fire poker, even if Alvin sucks. Theres no one more lame than a guy who mocks a movie collection and he deserves every last swing of the fire poker.

If I ever get married and have kids, I'd actually take the most hardcore R-rated films out of my collection and lock them in a chest.

I'd hate for my offspring to be forever traumatized by such films as "Salo," "A Serbian Film," "Human Centipede" 1 and 2, "I Spit on Your Grave," Uwe Boll films, etc.

Never mind any future offspring, but you may just want to store those movies in a secret location so your friends and family don't know you have them. I forget how it came up, but my wife asked me what "Human Centipede" was about. After I stopped laughing, I told her even I would not watch that movie and explained the premise to her.

I actually do seperate my movies and my kids movies. I just find it makes it easier for my kids to pick a movie that they like. Although, my son always goes through my collection so he can pull out the superhero movies.

You're probably right. I guess I was hoping to find some friends with similar tastes and high tolerances to share these wonderful films with, but chances of that happening are probably slim.

My family would probably disown me if they knew what these films were and knew I had them.
