I have to back-up all those that posted that this is old news, but I agree, it's pretty exciting that the project is still moving forward.

And for the record: 3-D may be coming to our homes sooner than you think. The technology may be available in the next 5-10 years (don't ask for the links, just do a little research and you'll find it, I never bothered to copy the links at the time that I read it). But for now, yes, it is the best way to get people to the theaters when they have to compete with awesome home set-ups with HD...

I don't know. I saw Superman in 3D(partially anyway) at the IMAX and it was pretty cool. Harry Potter too. I think animation lends itself better to 3D, but I would definitely go see Star Wars in 3D. I read an article that James Cameron thinks 3D is the future of cinema as well. OMG, Leo in 3D!! Sorry, couldn't help myself.

he's not going to funnel a lot of money into a format that he's not sure will be around in 5-10 years. he got burned big time on laserdisc so i don't blame him for taking his time. i know i would.

LMAO! Hey, I got all those too! I agree, no more buying these until they're put out on Blu! I'm thinking we might start to hear rumblings when the new Clone Wars movie gets ready for its debut on DVD (and hopefully Blu-ray!)

All six episodes were supposed to be in 3D last year for the 30th anniversary but adoption of 3D and digital projection in general was too low to justify the release.

That's nothing. I have:

1. ESB original VHS release (by Columbia I believe. Don't know how Columbia got their name on it)
2. 2x ROTJ original VHS release (also by Columbia)
3. 2x Trilogy Original Versions VHS (actually maybe it's three copies)
4. Trilogy 1997 Special Edition VHS
5. Trilogy 2004 SE DVD
6. Bootleg original versions of the Trilogy on DVD pulled from laserdisc rips like the official releases on the 2-disc sets would be
7. The Phantom Menace VHS
8. The Phantom Menace DVD
9. Attack of the Clones DVD
10. Revenge of the Sith DVD
11. Copies of Disc 2 from the 2006 re-releases that featured the original theatrical cuts because I refused to pay for sub-par, non-anamorphic DVDs when I already have Disc 1
12. 35mm trailer for AOTC
13. Clone Wars Season 1 DVD
14. Clone Wars Season 2 DVD

There are probably some more copies I have somewhere. Yeah I have problems...

I'll be dead and gone by the time these things come out. I wish lucas would just release them on bluray even with no extra content. I'll then buy his super duper versions later but making fans wait for years is hatefull.
