FOX = $$$$. This will probably cost an arm and a leg. I may wait and see if they are released separately, the first film is the only one I really want to have.

Thumbs up

Any "Director of Classics" for a studio, that uses the phrase "This is going to kick ass", is trustworthy for the position.

I can't wait to lay my stinking paws on this damned Planet of the Apes collection! But it will likely take nothing short of a fundraiser to pay for it …second mortgage …job

Same here. The first movie is a classic, the second one is pretty good and creepy.

The other three I'm not sure, I don't think I've ever made it through any of them in their entirety...

Ok, the flood gates are opening...

I see where the Ultimate Matrix boxset is being released and now the "Apes"!!

Reading the description makes me want the entire boxset. When the director says the set will "kick ass" it makes me want to buy!! I may be a sucka for the hype, but damn it's working!!!

Worth a buy. However, be warned that at 1080p, your going to see quite a bit of how they did the costumes and anything else you were not suppose to see at the time. Might be a disappointment to some.

Very cool. Always great to see classic movies get this kind of lavish treatment.

Fox keeps getting better and better...at least on releases. Pricing still sucks. But I like what I'm reading in regards to this set and the upcoming Young Frankenstein BD.

Hopefully they will price the boxset at a resonable level. $110 is about right

I agree.

You know, its funny. We ***** (a little) about Foxs pricing, yet there are multiple million post threads dedicated to Warners poor PQ and AQ.

I think that speaks volumes about us as consumers. We are willing to pay a premium if they deliver a top notch product, but we are severely disappointed when the product is weak, regardless of price.

I think its all fair too. I dont like spending $27 for a Fox title, but I will. And I will enjoy it for years to come (after the sticker shock wears off ). But if I spend $17 on a Warner title, I am hesitant ot pull it off the shelf for a second viewing because it doesnt wow me....so the Warner title is actually the waste of money in the long run.

Dont get me wrong, I would love it if Fox would get their prices in line....but Id rather have that than the poop DNR/EE Warner has applied to some CLASSIC films.

#1 WOW me
#2 Lower prices

Rant over...sorry....carry on

You will not see me complaining about Fox pricing. They are one of the only studios to do Blu-ray right. The best lossless audio on every release(DTS-HD MA) and high bitrate AVC filled to the disc's capacity. I just wish they had control of Warner's releases.

I'm happy that they have been so good in the audio department, but a few of their movies have had picture issues (Predator, Wall Street, etc.) and most of their movies come with zero special features.

Anyways, I'll definitely be getting the Apes Collection.

This is a dream come true for me ! I just found an old Planet of the Apes trading card in my mom's basement. From 1972 !!!! They used to play all five movies during the week on TV back in the 1970's Mon-Fri at 3:30 pm. I would run home from school as FAST as I could to watch these movies. I went ape-shit when they released these on DVD back in 2000 or 2001 ! Now, that this will be 1080p and given the royal treatment ??? Wow ! Plenty to do now on those cold November and December nights ! Good show Fox, and I will raise the drink in my hand to ya ! Thanks a MILLION !

Absolutely a "must buy" set. Thanx FOX!!! I grew up with the apes and had a big crush on Nova.

I also have the full DVD box set, but to me they are barely watchable because on my setup I can't get them to display more than a tiny little picture in the middle of my large screen. That is so annoying. So Blu replacements are a must for me.
