I get the impression that many here don't make a whole lot, it's just an addicting/expensive hobby.

I feel the same. I've had a PS3 since launch, and I think I have about 16 BDs, 8 of which I got for free. No real rush to buy stuff, unless its a significant upgrade, and a great movie. That's slowly starting to happen (some of my favorites, including Lonesome Dove, and The Godfather are already out, or on their way).

I'm not sure, but it took a little while, mainly because in late 2006 there really weren't that many titles I actually wanted. Even buying titles I didn't really care about it probably took me till April 2007 or so to get to 50.

Wink A little less than 10 months!

A tad less than 10 months.

I went Blu sometime in March of 2007. By Dec 31st I made it to an even 50 Blu-ray titles (Unforgiven was my 50th).

In 2008 it is a different story, I hit 100 titles in June (The 6th Day was my 100th). So the 2nd 50 took less than 6 full months.

I be up to 121 now and will be above 150 by the end of the year.

I've been collecting blu's for about 9 months now, and I'm just a shade below 50. I'm picky when it comes to movies I actually buy.

A few weeks into September I'll be over 50 though. There are just so many good movies that month.

I am sure I echo the thoughts of many others and say "Wow"! Over 400 titles!!

Just curious, but are you married? Just asking. My wife "tolerates" my Blu-rays and my HDTV, but I can't just spend Willy-Nilly. As it is I have been averaging about 6 to 7 titles a month.

I can't really complain, she did finally give in and "let me" go ahead and get my HDTV and Samsung. But I know I can only push things so far.

Somethings I just have to put my foot down (if my wife lets me) and go ahead and get what I want! Case in Point: The Ultimate Matrix Collection. This is a must have! Otherwise it is a title here and a title there.

Oh well, congrats on a collection that size. You inspire the rest of us!

I will probably be near the 50 mark by the 2 year mark of me being Blu.

There are a few Blus I currently want but don't have the funds for yet. A lot more being released soon!

Took me about 5 months to get to 50, will probably take about 13 months to getto 100 though - maybe a bit longer since I'm not buying any Warner titles anymore

Cool

It took a little over a year to get 120, so I guess about 5-6 months to reach 50. I expect to add another 30-40 titles before the year end.

I bought my first Blu-ray in March '07 and my collection currently stands at 11 films! Out of the Blu-ray titles released to date, there just aren't 50 films I'd want to own permanently. However, looking at the Q4 release slate, I should have doubled my tally by year end.

roughly a year, while that may not seem impressive, I am increasing the speed that I purchace movies with each generation, example I have about 20 VHS tapes, 215 DVD's and already 1 year into Blu-ray's life cycle I have 52 Blu-ray discs.

Tuesday I'll be at 50, so about 4 months.

Wow if I keep that up that would be 150 Blus a year Ha the most DVDs I've ever bought in a year was probably only like 4 lol!

I used to spend all my money on video games, now it's Blu-ray

I have well over 100 and I started collecting the last week of March. I've slowed down over the past month or so.

I think I hit 50 by like May.
