We've always known it was a bird, but through the miracle of Warner's DVD Ultra-Restoration, we can now positively identify it as an African crowned crane.

One "goof" that I noticed is during the last half hour of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, when the mothership has officially landed and they're going back and forth with the tones, you can tell that the top part of the ship is a whole shade darker than the bottom part of the ship that ends up opening up. You can literally see where the fx part of the ship ends and the practical part begins.

I have to admit that it kinda robs you of your suspension of disbelief. Even in the old DVD of it, you were able to believe that it was real. But I guess one of the drawbacks with 1080p is that you can see the more false FX shots and the "strings" attached to it, which kinda breaks the suspension of disbelief that is so vital to enjoying a film like CE3K.

What makes me suspend belief in Close Encounters is that you can tell that the spaceship's sounds (the 5 notes) are made by a tuba. I really doubt a spaceship that arrived from millions of light years away would play a tuba to everyone through loudspeakers.

Uh-oh.
Here come the third arm jokes.
I noticed that years ago, I believe it was on purpose. The T-1000 grew an extra arm to pilot the chopper while he reloaded.

What DVD release do you have? In the one I have (US, 2003) they digitally removed the reflection.

Not sure. I'll try to remember to check tomorrow. I also want to watch and confirm what I said about the DVD. You've got me rethinking myself.

Another one that has bugged me that I've not seen in many, many years is the boy in Three Men and a Baby. The first time I saw that creepy boy (on VHS), I about $hit Yes, I've researched this on Snopes, and I say bull$hit to their explanation that the boy was a cardboard cutout of Ted Danson It was no Danson cut-out. You can even see that in the photos they have on Snopes. Anyone ever look at this on the DVD?

1. Some of the ships and aircraft were built long after World War II, or have equipment added by their present owners;
2. When Rafe accidentally pops the cork into his already damaged nose, he lies down and it bleeds across his cheek (in the overhead shot, the blood is gone);
3. Mountains can be seen in the background at Mitchell Field in Long Island, which is shown as being by the sea (there are no mountains in Long Island and the base is inland);
4. Evelyn gives Rafe a scarf when they say goodbye (it disappears and reappears between shots);
5. A modern barcode can be seen on the back of a whiskey bottle;
6. As Dorie Miller sets down the tray of dishes you can see the hand of a crew member holding the remote control for the Steadicam;
7. Air conditioning units can be seen on top of the White House;
8. Evelyn and her nurse friends are shown wearing bikinis (the bikini didn't make its first appearance until 1946);
9. As Rafe and Danny sleep off their hangovers in the convertible, the camera crew is visible in the car's chrome bumper;
10. The license plate on the car says 1943;
11. At that time, Japanese was written from right to left (all the Japanese characters in the movie are written from left to right except for only one written statement "Empire of Japan banzai");
12. A sailor betting on Dorie Miller's boxing match has a $5 bill with the "Hawaii" overprint on it (Although series 1934 and 1934-A notes were printed with the "Hawaii" overprint, these notes were not issued until July 1942, seven months after the attack on Pearl Harbor);
13. A machine gunner, though not smoking (in accordance with the film's no smoking policy which is a big error because just about everyone in the military smoked back then), has a pack of cigarettes - modern "Marlboro Lights";
14. When Rafe and Evelyn are on the platform by the side of the Queen Mary, the platform is going up, but the ropes are not moving through the pulleys;
15. As Rafe and Danny talk on the beach, the lighting and the color of the sky changes between shots;
16. A modern 'rocking' style light switch can be seen in Evelyn's house;
17. When the suspected "dud" bomb bounces across the tarmac into the oil drums, you can clearly see a webbing safety strap attached to the tip of the prop bomb as it crashes into the oil drums;
18. When Evelyn first enters Pearl Harbor, there is a tall building that clearly says, "Est. 1953";
19. In the first view of Pearl Harbor, just before the nurses are shown in the small transport boat the Arizona Memorial is visible in the background;
20. The camera pans across a window, showing Evelyn seated inside and eventually stops at a reflection of Rafe (a red indicator light from the camera is clearly reflected and moves across the first pane during the shot);
21. When the planes take off to bomb Tokyo, the captain of the carrier says "forward" in order to help them taking off (when the planes are still taking off, the carrier has its anchor chains as if it was anchored);
22. In a scene where one of the ships turns over, the chain on the bottom curves up as if gravity has no affect on it;
23. In the golf course scene you can see a Willys Jeep M38 (this car was not produced before 1950);
24. After Evelyn tells Rafe that she is pregnant, she walks away and leaves him standing by the gas pumps. When the camera pans out from him, you can see the boom mike in the upper right hand corner;
25. During the Doolittle raid take off scene, a shot from the nose of a B25 clearly shows the launching mechanism that was on the deck of a modern aircraft carrier, used for launching jet fighters; and,
26. All of the green screen shots visible where glass is supposed to be inside the B25's.

Of course there are many other historical and other kinds of errors in this movie (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0213149/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Harbor_(film) for more) but these are the big ones which can be easily seen while watching the blu-ray disk.

In the Road Warrior during the final chase scene (sometime after the driver's door gets ripped off) you can see a crew member sitting on the floor of the truck.

And in Gone In 60 Seconds when Nicolas Cage first goes and sees Angelina Jolie (were she is working under the car) in the first scene you can see to wrenches together on the left of the screen and in the next scene they are apart. And at the end where Cage goes to see "The Carpenter" he hits Cage with the brass knuckles and he falls on the ground, you can see a X on the floor to show were Nicolas Cage was supposed to be standing to be hit.

I thought that was done intentionally because was having to reload his gun and fly at the same time. Thats what I always figured anyway.

The Rock, with Cage and Sean Connery down in the pipes there is one Clear as Day shot with Connery and he has a HUGE booger in his nose. It was so sick. I have never noticed it before.

Dang!

Watch this first Terminator last night, it's not really a goof but when the T800crashes his car, it is painfully obvious that is a dummy (didn't even look like Arnold either)

You are correct. I just watched it, and I must have been thinking about the last time(s) I saw this on TV vs. DVD. The reflection was gone on the 4-disc boxed set version I have.

Didn't they show the West Wing of the White House, that had not been built yet?
