I wish. Here's why:

The architect of the house, horrible as he was, was not taking into consideration future Home theater building plans. That one little corner of that wall ruins everything. And I'm using that path as circulation, connecting that entryway (which is the hallway connecting main door to bedrooms) to the living room, and behind the living room is the kitchen.

You could go to Walmart and get an area rug for around $30. They help with reflections too.

And it seemed (along with the little dinette set) like such a good buy back when I moved into the house a year ago,

House is only rented tho, at least until I'm done with my studies.

And that's also part of today's chore - decor! And you can't go wrong with Wally's world, I'm about to go and pick up many rugs for this god-forsaken tile.

Very nice man.

Hah, I have those exact same couches. They've lasted hell and high water, moving 3 times, 2 dogs, 1 kid. They're getting a little more worn now but I love them. My wife calls them "the footballs" because of the color, but they're so comfy.

Very nice setup. We all have to work with what we have in terms of room size and dimensions.

Everyone who has come by and noticed by panels has commented on how I organized them like an architect student would: to look like fluted columns...

I can't escape my training,

The Marantz receiver is ironically, super-easy to use...but its user interface reminds me of the 1970s!

I'll keep messing with it though, that's my chore today...tweaking.
the way dolby has it setup makes sense though, for 2 reasons...

1)The rears are pointed at the listening position over the arms or sides of the couch, which are usually lower than the high back of your couch. You have your surrounds pointed at each other and towards the very back of the couch. i think i can see just the very tip top of your surrounds poking their head above the back of the couch. that makes little to no sense to me.

2)The rears they have pictured are satellite speakers on stands, elevating above the sides of the couch that would otherwise hinder sound penetration. your speakers are barely peeking over the top of the back of your couch.

Now the way you had your old surrounds setup makes a little more sense. the picture you posted of your old setup had them more to the sides of the couch, rather than directly behind the couch, and they had more of a chance at hitting the listening position than your current setup.

i would move your surrounds to the same position as your old ones if it was my setup. or as close to it if possible. but thats my only concern.

Well, Mr. Peeps, I tried it like that, as I used to have my old surrounds - much better sound staging, more clear - going to have to drop the dBs on them a bit though so they don't overpower the fronts since they are closer. Audyssey again!

All in all, I've barely had time to test it - suffering from a huge headache, eye irritation, and a little cold - I'm being punished for being so happy,

Cloverfield, 300 and Cars are first on the Blu-ray test list. Hopefully I'll recuperate a bit by tonight.

by all means, test it out. im just going from the pics you posted. obviously, judging by the gear you've chosen and purchased, you know what you're doing. heh.

so its very possible i am indeed missing something for i am not capable of hearing the setup and all. good luck with everything though man! hope you get better too. being under the weather blows.

good luck and enjoy!

All in all I still don't believe I own all this. My damn headache is making me delusional. Maybe this is all a dream. I'm going to be upset when I wake up.

Advil has definitely NOT kicked in yet. I think I'll go buy those rugs and wall treatments now.

I think if you want to get the 52's, why not? It's in the same line as your fronts. The Monitor 50's still nice. It's your decision though.
