Game companies need to strike a fine balance though. Triple A titles like a GTA IV or Metal Gear Solid 4 can be launched at anytime and sell well. Titles that aren't at that level do run the risk of getting buried under the avalanche of releases during the holiday so, that should be considered. Ubisoft made a huge error a few years ago releasing Beyond Good and Evil, at the same time as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time during the holiday season. Both games received huge critical acclaim, but guess which one I plucked out of a bargain bin for $10 that January? I guess the one thing I'm happy for is that Killzone 2 was bumped back to February. It gives Killzone 2 more time for polish, and it gives both KZ2 and Resistance 2 their own time to shine. Sony needs to keep pushing out more triple A titles though to help counter the 360s extensive library - especially now given the 360's recent price cut. Keep in mind though, you certainly don't have to buy and play all the holiday releases at once, so just enjoy them one at a time. I still have several titles I pre-ordered that I've barely been able to try out, let alone dig into. I just started playing COD 4 this past week, and I pre-ordered it! |

I understand what you guys are saying about not having to play games right when they come out, but I feel like you're almost forced too. This is when everyone else is into the game so you can share your experiences and impressions with other people. For games with strong online components, release time (and a couple months after) is when everyone is still playing (relatively) nice and not cheesing/cheating like crazy. Also, if you get into games like CoD4 late, there's no time to ease into online play as the people who are still playing it are probably pros now.

I buy them when they come out, but I pace myself playing them. I like knowing I have them, but it is getting crazy.
I stopped buying everything else, so this movie/ game season isn't too too bad for me right now. Op...I definitely get you though. |

I'm just happy that I'll have so many choices this time of the year, unlike 2007. Just 'cause I can't get it all at once doesn't mean I can't drag it out over the next couple of months. And this is not including my potential Blu-Ray movie purchases
