What you're saying makes absolutely no sense. Something shouldn't be made because we know what's going to happen but it only applies to video games and not books?

$600.8MM was spent by the viewing public in the US in 1997-1998 on a movie called "Titanic" where people already knew the ending...

I don't think people are getting what I'm thinking of. I didn't think of Terry Zwigoff because I like his movies, I though about him because the character of Kratos seem it would have been something of a wet dream for him. Examples of his work are a cartoonist with a disturbed childhood, a lonely teenager hating her life, a drunk loser that dresses up as Santa Clause. His movies are about messed up or broken lives and Kratos seems to be in that category even if he is an angry, murderous badass spartan that can kill even the biggest of things. You have to think more about the character than the story or material in face value, as some think more of just an action movie, I like to think of the idea more as an ultraviolent character study of a destructive and broken man.

Makes perfect sense if you're not an idiot.

They'd have to either make up a whole new storyline (and we all know how that goes with video game movies) or they'd have to rehash the same stuff we already spent many hours playing through. Either way it spells flop.

Applying what I said to books and real life stories misses the point entirely.
But go ahead boys.. flame on.

don't know about a director but i think it would have to be made the same was that 300 was.

and 300 is a great example of how an R rated movie can make big money @ the theater!!

but yeah, probably zach snyder

and to say they can't make a movie based on the game trilogy is beyond ignorant....not everyone spends hours upon hours in their parent's basement playing video games!!!

Video game = we already know what's going to happen.
Book = we already know what's going to happen.
Real life story = we already know what's going to happen.

And yet I'm the idiot? Go ahead, leave more negative feedback on my posts, I'm sure that will teach me a lesson about people that say stupid stuff. lol

Haven't they learned by now that video games never usually translate into a good movie?

There's a first for everything, even the impossible.

Is Brett Ratner still doing this? If so, this sucks. Dude, just focus with your Hugh Hefner movie biopic with Robert Downey Jr. I keep reading Ratner shelved it, and then he removed it from the shelf. And then he put it back in the shelf. Does ANYONE KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON? Is he still making this?
Other Realistic Choices:
Bryan Singer (So he can shove it in Ratner's face. PAYBACK!)
Francis Lawrence
Mark Neveldine
Matthew Vaughn
Paul W.S. Anderson
Mike Newell
McG
Zack Snyder
Robert Rodriguez
Stephen Sommers
Russell Mulcahy

Taking a chance, but Realistic
Duncan Jones

One that would be absolutely amazing, but will never happen [NEVER IN A BILLION YEARS!
Quentin Tarantino
David Fincher

Guillermo del toro would be an awesome choice, but it won't happen. He is so FREAKING busy with The Hobbit shooting over November. So him directing this will never happen.

I thought it just got Greenlit? It said so in the Hobbit Thread and and it said they start shooting in November. This news was like yesterday I thought. Did it change again? If so, that sucks....

Source: Coming Soon

Quote:
Speaking moments ago at a press conference for his latest production, Splice, Guillermo del Toro responded to questions about the state of The Hobbit, saying that the film does not have a start date, nor will it until MGM sorts out its financial troubles.

"It's not greenlit," said del Toro, "That's categorical... We've been caught in a very tangled negotiation... There cannot be any start dates until the MGM situation gets resolved. They do hold a considerable portion of the rights."

Responding to rumors that the film would shoot in 3D, del Toro said that, while 3D remains a possiblity, it has been discussed "literally once" in the production offices and it is not being planned at this time. The current production budget has been drawn without 3D in mind.

Admitting no predictable timeline for a start date, del Toro theorized one possible outcome that would see MGM sharing or selling off the rights. Nevertheless, he feels confident that the film will move forward as soon as a decision is made.

"We have designed all the creatures," he said, "We've designed the sets and the wardrobe. We have done animatics and planned battles sequences.... We are very, very prepared for when it is finally triggered."
