I have a Sony BD player with firmware I updated about 8 weeks ago and I can't get past the menu either. Has Sony put out another firmware upgrade in the last two months?

This used to happen to me for Pirates of The Caribbean 3, and it ended up being a firmware problem. Most likely your player needs an update.

anyone know how long it took sharp to release the firmware update for "The Jumper" after they were informed of the problem? Trying to decide if I should return "The Happening" to Netflix and get it again later.

seeing how everyone has their own opinion, i enjoy the movie and im hoping Sharp gets this firmware out quick so i can not only watch this movie that I enjoy... but i wanna watch The Omen as well. It kills me to see it just sitting there.

why is it that FOX blurays seem to be the ones constantly needing firmware updates??

Default response from Sharp on frimware release date

Received this from "Zachary Johnson" at the "Customer Assistance Center":
"
Currently there is no release date for the upgrade. It is being worked on in a speedy process I can assure you of this."

SHARP's taking their sweet ass time with this one - aren't they? Jumper's firmware update came out the day BEFORE the movie released.

I have a Sony BDP S1 and I have the latest firmware yet I can't get the damn movie to play. The previews work. This kind of stuff is just plain bullshit.

I have a SONY BDP S301. I rented this via Netflix since I hadn't seen it, and whenever I pressed enter on 'Play Movie,' nothing would happen at all. I couldn't even navigate the arrows to the other options on the menu. I updated my firmware to version 4.20, though, and then I was able to play without any problems.

The firmware for the Sony BDP was back in June, the 20th I believe. So they should be working on a new one. Nothing more frustrating than popping in a movie and not being able to do anything but watch crappy previews.

Maybe your player wants to save you from a truly shitty movie.

Okay... These are the absolute DUMBEST responses ever. Why try to tell someone else what's good or bad?

My concern right now is not the quality of the film, but the quality of SHARP's customer service.

Ok thanks I will give it another shot, I contacted sony support and the guy online wanted me to send it in for repair which I thought was odd since this is the first time I had a disc that wanted me to update firmware.

Has anybody tried turning off 24P in the player yet. That seems to work for many problems that come up with the Panasonic players. I don't even know if this is an option with the Sharp models, but if so then it's worth trying.
