I saw one episode of The Batman cartoon, which had the Riddler...Depp would do a great job playing him like that. last I heard, if Riddler was in the third movie, he would be some kind of techno-terrorist. It could work, but I like the idea of Bane and Azreal also.

Hopefully as portrayed by Timothy Spall or Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Nolan already said there were several villians he would NEVER do because he thought they were too campy and the Penguin was one of those.

The Riddle from the TAS was awesome, if they do use the riddler I would hope that it would be like that.

Done like Scarecrow's Psychoactive drug in the water fix, Mind control could have some real life springboard (a la Blipverts from Max Heasdroom), or subliminal advertising...

I'd like to see the Riddler, but played completely serious and dark... someone like Kevin Spacey.

I believe and HOPE he was referring to the Riddler (to much like Joker) and Mr. Freeze as well.

Psychoactive hallucinogens have a basis in reality. Mind control does not. And if they delimit Madhatters power to be something realistic, the character becomes an empty shell who really wouldn't pose any sort of threat to anyone.

ps TAS stands for The Animated Series. The person above is referring to the Batman animated TV show from the 90s. This version of the Riddler fits well with what I described in my previous post, and as a bit of trivia, I'd like to point out that the voice actor for that iteration of the Riddler was John Glover, probably better known for his role as Lex Luthor's father on Smallville, although he also had a small part in Batman & Robin as Dr. Woodrue.

I for one would like to see the next chapter focus less on supervillians and more on the 'detective' side of Batman. Something in the line of organized crime with some real mysteries for Bats to figure out.

Crib a little from The Long Halloween and Dark Victory.

Please god no.

Kevin Spacey ruined himself as Lex Luthor {sorry, I got that wrong, as the movie version of Dr. Evil from Austin Powers} in Stupidman Returns.

For me it's either The Riddler or Clayface.

This isn't to crap on the speculation because at this point I think it's all good fun but I can't wait until the third movie gets going and we learn things and it's a villain almost no one picked and an actor no one would have guessed and it ends up being phenomenal.

Frankly, I'd say that Depp would be more apt to doing The Joker (although, a different Joker than Ledger's).

Riddler should be played straight. A fine gentleman in a nice green suit and bowler. A calm and composed fellow who commits crimes and is driven by a compulsion involving riddles. I was involved in a similar discussion elsewhere and the best actor for this sort of thing in my opinion turned up to be Hugo Weaving. If Depp played it that way, I think it would probably come off as too dark and sinister. Remember that the Riddler might be a thief, but he's not an outright killer like the Joker is; he's not fundamentally evil.

Just being "not used already" doesn't make it good by default. Madhatter would be interesting, but it wouldn't work well within the universe here. Mind control is a little farfetched.

But, say, Hush, would be great too. Unique, not a known character outside of comics, and his appearance would play well into the plot of Batman having been identified as a murderer. Others like Black Mask would probably a step backwards after what we've seen thus far. I'd say even the likes of Penguin would be a step backward... if they include these sorts of characters, they'd have to be more like cameos I think, because I don't see how they could hold the full length of a film after what this Batman's been through this far.

The interesting thing about the relationship between the Riddler and Batman is that the Riddler is potentially the very best at bringing out the intellect of the Dark Knight. He doesn't beat the Riddler by punching his lights out, he beats him by besting him on an intellectual level. And that's the thing, The Riddler intends to test the World's Greatest Detective. And given that we've seen very little detectiving thus far, I'd love to see something a little smarter from Bruce Wayne (forgive the possible negative connotations about these first two films, because they were amazing in all honesty).
Yeah I like all of this, Hush sounds like he'd be great along side The Riddler. If I were to nominate anybody as The Riddler, it would be Casey Affleck.

I don't think Bane would be a good choice. I can't see him being the lead Villian. He might be good as some one hired by the Riddler for protection.

Bane from Batman & Robin was horrible. Bane from the comics was awesome and could definitely take the lead. However, he wouldn't be my choice either. I'd personally like to see more Scarecrow.

I don't mean Bane from Batman and Robin. I just can't see Bane being the lead Villian. I think that The Riddler would be a much better choice. And of course I think that Johnny Depp would be perfect to play him.

It should go this way: After the Joker is locked up and thrown in Jail a mystery man that Batman at first does not find a threat, does something horrible. Whether it's destroying a building ,a bridge, whatever. But at the site of the crime he always leaves a card with a riddle on it to clue Batman into what he'll destroy next. And another problem he will have is staying away from the cops. Bane could fit in as some one The Riddle hires for protection, but other then that I don't think that he would fit into a good sequel for The Dark Knight. The Riddler should act like a gentlemen with a nice green suit and cane, but also have no problem with killing someone.
