The coolest place that I've ever been

Standing on top of a shut down Nuclear Reactor in one of the Reactor Compartments of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).

other than that, snorkelling and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Austrailia, and the Po Lin Monastery & the Tian Tan Buddha in Hong Kong.

A few...
Altun Ha Mayan ruins site in Belize (me and my FIL climbed the pyramid a few months before he died - he lit a cigarette when he got to the top and hid it from my MIL and wife who were on the ground)

Volcan Poas in Costa Rica - got there before the clouds rolled in - can't say how many opportunities I will ever have a again to stand above the crater of a billowing volcano

Hoover Dam - took the tour inside - pretty cool

Pacific Ocean @ Pebble Beach - being a east coast person, I would never have thought to be able to walk a bit of the course and see the pacific ocean from the links and the beach there right after a pro-am event had wrapped up - there was a bag piper playing in the evening from one of the greens just as the sun was setting - it was pretty cool to see

I was glad I was able to visit the World Trade Center in 1982. We visited the Commodities Exchange, and the rooftop observation deck.

Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

The Fall of the Iron Curtain (East/West Germany), I was there for it, chipped out pieces of The Wall with my own hands.

And of course this place was pretty darn cool, as well

In the penalty box at the United Center to keep score for the Junior Hawks. I got to blow the goal horn.

I got to stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite this summer, right above Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't know if that's the coolest place I've ever been, but it's unusual and would rank pretty high up there. Did you know they have 3 Blu-ray players in there? A PS3, and 2 Sony S300s. I think both the standalones were S300s, although one of them may have been a Samsung or LG.

cool, how many bd players did the suite have when you left?

I've been to several interesting places but the coolest single place where I had the most fun was Goa.

I've been to a lot of cool places, but nothing really spectacular or unusual. Been to Mexico, Jamaica, Canada, Wrigley Field, Soldier Field, the Metrodome, Skydome, Disneyworld, both Universal Studios, all the main Washington DC tourist spots, but I can't think of one places that was really special.

The Colosseum (along with the pyramids, and the Parthenon) are on my must-see lists at some point in life.

An interesting fact....the colosseum is apparently the first domed stadium/arena in the world (it had a large canvas roof that could be placed/slid on top of the stone structure).

I really can't imagine flooding that place and having fake naval battles, but it must have been great to see (if that is in fact true...it's unclear).

They have a painting of that castle in the Disneyland Dream Suite:

i can think of 2. the first would be moran, wyoming at sunset on my 2nd wedding anniversary. our 1st wedding anniversary we were both in pretty bad shape after a car accident. so our 2nd anniversary we went on this long driving trip, 3,000 miles, and we were in yellowstone on our anniversary. the sun was setting over the gran tetons and a huge electrical storm was rolling in on the other side.

and the other was when my former band got kicked out of a local venue. the place was packed with several hundred people and when we were playing the 2nd to last song of our set about 50 of them broke down the barrier and jumped on stage with us jumping up and down singing along. the venue shut down our mics after that but not the instruments so we played our last song with no vocals just the crowd singing for us. that my friends is an amazing feeling.
