Your wait is near an end. McIntosh will be shipping the MX150 Processor this March. Decodes all HD audio formats for a mere $12,000. Cannot wait to match it up with my new McIntosh amp. I have been using my Denon 4308 as a pre-amp.

The most shocking news from McIntosh was when they introduced their new DLP projector. When I read the news in the Home Theater Magazine, I fell out of my chair.

The projector is called MDLP2 and costs $18,000 and uses Texas Instruments DC4 chip.

What is next? Budget HTIB from McIntosh sold at Wal-Mart.

I pre-ordered all their units. You have to wait at least 6 months.

hi, can i throw a nugget in here, SANSUI!

not the modern crap of-course, but from the golden age of japanese amplifiers, late 70's early 80's (like mine!)

200w/ch @ 6 ohms >0.0001% THD

In 1978-79, I bought a Sansui integrated amp, cassette player, tuner, and the rack. I hooked them up to a German-made Visonic satellite speakers and a subwoofer. The sound was awesome.

+1
However, I have to say Lexicon has always been expensive. Their DC-1 processor was $5000 12 years ago.(I've owned two of them) And the balanced MC-12 was $10k in 2001. Logic 7 is The Deal , you haven't experienced precision channel steering until you hear Lexicon do it, they are THE 7.1 innovator. Their sound quality and innovation is only surpassed by Meridian and maybe a couple of others. I personally prefer their pre/pros above all contenders.
Lexicon has kind of turned their collective noses up towards the new sound codecs, haven't leaked a word about anything new, I talked to them on the phone and the tech I spoke to seemed kind of negative and snooty about True HD and DTS HD MA. Go figure, Lexicon has been incredibly innovative over the years, it's weird to see them stagnate currently, still, their products are unreal.....

Big deal uncompressed out of my Halcro Is way better than DTS-MA out of my Parasound I used to own .. It costs a company 100k just to have the THX logo plus the money to have DTS True HD .... I thoght about a Lex ... But I liked the Halcro better ....No Ones mentions Halcro in here kind of funny
Lexicon has been THX and DTS certified forever. The fees for them are not an issue as they make tons on their pro audio and guitar gear. When they get around to including True HD and HD MA processors in their gear it will kick the crap out of everything else, personally I find bitstreaming superior.
What Parasound unit has DTS HD MA decoding?

So Is the Halcro THX and DTS .... I like the Halcro better than Lexicon .....Meridan is really nice but no HDMI... The Moon I believe is the best pre-pro out there ..

They probabally dont want to pay for the licensing to have True HD and DTS-MA ... Thats why Halcro doesnt have the new codecs , and It seems like they never will...

Lexicon is soso. You're paying for the name. I haven't heard the Moon pre/pro but based on Simaudio's track record, I believe that its gotta be one of the best.

I have not decided on my favorite processor yet - but I am a fan of Lexicon. My favorite amps are easy Berning. His novel designs for tube amplification have always impressed me with their sound. Warm, accurate and rock solid low maintenance. Now how do I afford all the amps I would need to run a full surround sound system? Let the day dreaming begin.

The same is true for me. Emotiva is the only amp I've owned so far; owned...I am wondering which is true, is the question asking about your favorite amp that you do or have owned or your favorite amp based on what you know of it? I answered it based on what I own or did own, had I have owned another amp that is.

So, are we listing these amps because we have read that they are good/the best/popular or are we listing them because either we do or did own them and have personal experience with them in either systems we owned or do now own?

Please add that to your post when answering the original post!

I to based my comment on owned ! I can't say something is better or worse if I have never heard them . I know there is BETTER & I'm sure there are some not as good as Emotiva . I purchased my first Emo from listening to talk on how good it is for a lot less $$$$$ ! After A few months I bought another one ! I'm impressed with mine !!
