Well, I'd say they [Trey and Matt] have hit pretty close to the mark on... well... a lot, but I am a biased Die-hard South Park fan. But hey, I still enjoyed Transformers... it's probably one of the ONLY Bay movies I'll watch... but I like it.

I liked how Mr. Bay emphasized that he'll have "ROBOTS KICKING ASS."

I'm hyped.

You mean instead of the first movie, which was mostly humans kicking robot ass? I still worry. They're claiming this is the biggest co-military film ever, which means more military porn and more pointless human characters while the robots are largely ignored.

Did you see the first Transformers movie? They didn't need much of a plot for that one and I don't have high hopes for the second. An 8-year-old playing with a bunch of toys could put together a better plot in a half hour than Transformers 2 will have (and the dialogue wouldn't be as lame).

I'm actually pretty apprehensive about Terminator: Salvation. Those Charlie's Angels movies were soooooooooo awful.
Could they have picked a worse file name than "BigTrannie2" ? I was actually afraid I'd be linked over to a porn image of a fat she-male.

Oh come on!!! What's so plot and character driven about Terminator? Robots come from the future to kill a woman for giving birth to the leader of the resistance. Never mind the fact that the father of the child is a man who returned from the future to stop the robot from killing her. Talk about plot holes. Transformers and Terminator are both good and cheesy action movies that rely heavily on special effects.

much disagreement here. i really didn't like transformers but im not gonna dog it here since thats not my point. however, i will defend terminator....it was far from a cheesy action movie. if you actually read the script and watch the movie for more than the special effects you'll realize there are layers upon layers of themes throughout the entire thing. it isn't just a shoot em up with 80s haircuts.

now terminator III, you got me there. the script was written and the movie produced purely to capitalize on the profits of the first 2.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I like Terminator a lot and I've seen it dozens of times but I just don't see the layers of themes.

Default Take That Michael Bay - McG Fires Back at Transformers!

Quote:
Last Friday, we published a quote from Michael Bay where he had made fun of "certain movies coming out" that were "trying to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads." Bay's quipped, "Please, come on." Obviously he was taking a shot at McG and his giant Terminators. Well, now it's McG's turn to fire back! The director recently moderated a special presentation in New York City of Terminator Salvation footage. He was asked about Bay's statement and what he thought of the Transformers comparison. We weren't in attendance, but Sara from Comcast was and has published McG's response for us to read.

"It bothers me to tell you the truth. Ultimately, our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots," McG said. "I say with respect, giant robots have been the theme of film for a real long time. So we want to do everything we can to create separation. Our film's about T-800s and the Marcus character and the Connor character, and this, that, and the other. So, to have people have a problem with that wouldn't be working for us so we want to make sure there's separation."

Not the kind of bold statement we were hoping to see, but then again, McG was surrounded by members of the press and he did his best to remain calm and collected. I'm not trying to start a war between these two, because that's completely unnecessary. As Sara asks: "Is this just a case of a few Hollywood boys fighting over their extremely explosive toys?" Probably, but that doesn't mean it's not fun to sit back and watch, right? We're obviously going to be judging these two movies in May and June (respectively) when they hit theaters anyway. Plus it's fun to rile up fans and give them something to fight for in the end.

All this will do is make both movies bigger....

As to what he said, I think it's b.s., the scenes from the future in the Terminator series have consistently shown robots that size...

Not really.. they were tanks with tread wheels. Nothing with 2 walking legs.

They were still that size, and the clips were extremely brief...

Also like someone else pointed out the first Terminator was done so long
ago the CG was very basic compared to todays standards...

I disagree. I like The Terminator movies, but the first two are almost the same. Think about this. Robot comes back from the future try ing to kill the mom, a bunch people die, and the climax is a wear house/machine shop type such building. Terminator 2 same thing except they go after the kid instead.

So basic that it didn't exist. It was stop-motion animation, not CGI.
