Looks like I need to see the wrestler. Didn't realize Darren Aronofsky had directed this.

Okay so did anyone see slum dog millionaire? It seems like an incredible simple premise for a movie that's racking up the awards, not to sound like a douche or anything.

haven't seen it. I guess I'm just a bit happy that Button isn't winning.

But I still have no interest in SDM

Saw it and it was easily my favorite movie of the year.

Slum is fantastic. It deserved all its wins tonight. Kate did as well. Go Heath and Go Mickey!

Was actually a decent GG awards.

The Dark Knight and Grand Torino were not even nominated for Best Picture??? I am happy for the In Bruges and Vicky Christina Barcelona nominations.

I've only seen two of Best Picture nominations: The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and The Reader. Both are terrific but now matter what wins, The Dark Knight was the best picture of the year. I do need to make an effort to see Slumdog and RR.

BTW, I love Pixar but Kung Fu Panda was better than Wall E.

yeah... disappointed...

Slumdog Millionaire was good... but very VERY underwhelming. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is the best film of the year... Slumdog was good... but not any where NEAR great

Great to see Mickey Rourke get the GG for best actor. The Wrestler is easily my favorite film of 2008.

I thought Slumdog was by far the best this year, so glad to see it win big. I was excited for Benjamin Button but it really is just a Forrest Gump retread. It's sad that Fincher didn't get anything for Zodiac that was the best film of 2007....

There was a Slumdog Millionaire thread on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it anymore .

... Well, no offense, but that doesn't make a single lick of sense as what is wrong with a film with a simple plot? Complex or simple, that doesn't matter at all as long as it's a well-told and interesting story with alive-characters.

Also, I'm constantly-amazed at the number of people on here that have never heard of "Slumdog Millionaire"... some of you must never watch TV, go online, read newspapers or magazines or stroll by a movie theater (... to say the least).

Woohoooooo I was 95 percent spot on with my predictions...as you can see haha lol.
Okay, I am SO happy Kate Winslet got both. RR and The Reader were both fantastic.
And of course Wall-E was great also. and Rainn Wilson was hilarious as well, "hi, we are TV actors" lmao.

Slumdog Millionaire was absolutely the best movie of the year. Even if the premise seems simple, the way the characters tie in to the movie has a huge emotional impact. It's actually supposed to appear that way. They look like regular questions to everyone else, but to him, every question happened to represent a life-experience that made him become who he was. It's a pretty deep movie if you ask me. I was really glad to see Danny Boyle get best director, he really deserves it.

After the awards show tonight, I want to see The Wrestler and Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Having seen Milk and Ben Button, Mickey Rourke must be great. I'm looking forward to it. Also, has anyone seen In Bruges? It made the IMDB top 250 movies. No release date on blu yet...

I'm very surprised Meryl Streep didn't take the globe home. Her performance in Doubt was phenomenal. And I thought Christopher Nolan's acceptance speech for Heath could have been more compelling; on such a touchy subject it was incredibly brief and to the point.

... Again, what is even wrong with a simple premise?

I don't see anything wrong with a simple premise as long as it's effective. But I think simplicity tends to indicate blandness, so I can see why it can make a movie look uninteresting.
