Everything was sharper and the image looked crisper on the Elite. The edge around character models on my old 360 looked slightly blurrier. I was not expecting as big a difference as I saw. To me, PQ is everything so this totally justified my purchase.
Certain politics has been downplaying the quality of HDMI versus analog outputs since the beginning.

It's good to read that the HDMI does have such a significant improvement.

So depending on which Pio he has got, I can pretty much guarantee that this is the placebo effect.

But what the hell, whatever floats your boat I suppose.
I know my experience with analog VGA to some flat panels was extremely underwhelming compared to DVI. The quality of the ADCs in the set would be a primary issue.

I'm correct in assuming for HD DVD playback the component is limitted to 1080i outputs, right? I believe that is maximum allowed under AACS.

Techno out!
Ah yes..."truth."

Who/which company do you work for?...if you don't mind me asking.

Also, how does the Xbox 360's HDMI performance vs. component have ANY bearing on ANYthing PS3 related whatsoever? Which games are you even referring to?

I doubt I'll ever see you post again, but what the hell.

Again with the bashing? I am glad you thought Halo was horrible. I am not trying to sell you a system, but rather to give kudo's to a guy that is happy for his purchase. Long live blu-ray I agree......the rest, why bother?

Well, the company is Los Angeles/San Diego based. I do not care to get specific. Right off the bat the games that comes to mind is Oblivian and Fight Night 3. The PS3 versions looked a bit crisper than its counterpart on the 360. The Elite leveled that field. I do comparison all day long on various types of systems (at this moment, I'm working on the Trinity Broadcasting HD Studios (Nashville, Dallas and New York)). Just finished TV Guide's studios.

I meant my post to be informative, more than distruptive. It seems one can't mention PS3 and 360 in the same sentence otherwise it becomes flame bait.

All in all, bring on the games!

Not at all. I just wanted to see something more specific and definitive. Thanks!

I know what you mean. Everytime I praise the 360, I get someone telling me how much better the PS3 is, but I own a PS3 and I love it. It just needs more games.

It's my Oppinion and thats exactly what I said, and again I get annoyed when the integrity of XBOX is supported and looked at as a positive game system because thats all it is - a game system. I assume and yes I do ass u me knowing that some may think of me as a Jack but "most" of the Blu-Ray forum members are adults that have a PS3 or Blu ray player who use their BD 1st gaming 2nd and those who have PS3's should in MY OPPINION despise XBOX (and a little back story I work for a software company that is in strong competition with Microcrap) so to get a short story long I would love to only read about XBOX when it is negative.

And when I say did not intend to offend it is simply saying it is not personal it's business.

You've got it easy on here If you were to praise about the PS3 on a 360-support forum, you'll be getting a lot more abuse then what you're getting here.

All I know was that I needed HDMI to get 1080p with my 360, and now that it does do 1080p, the difference is VERY noticable.

Kiddtigger (or to anyone that can answer this for me), I have the white (20gb) Xbox 360 and my Sony Bravia LCD 52" XBR2 reads out 1080p via component when i check the output from the 360. Can my Sony be wrong? I read somewhere that through a fall 2006 patch update, the white 360 is now able to output 1080p via component (for games only). They added that if you wanted to watch movies in 1080p, then you would have to use the VGA cable. But for 1080p games, the component was enough. So far I thought that was true because every game I have reads 1080p on my Sony. Since most of my 360 games are older games, their boxes in the backcover reads 720p/1080i HD output.

PS I'm glad you enjoy your black 360. I am surprised that you do see a major difference but... it's all about enjoying.

Yes, on certain HD TVs that is possible (it seems you have one). A 2006 patch gave the 360 that functionality.

If your sony tells you that the incoming signal is 1080p then it probably is. The 360 is probably upconverting to 1080p, but to be honest, I'm not really too sure. I thought that the 360 could do 1080p over component, but that it depended on whether or not your tv accepted the signal over component.

That's what she says, but she can when I point out the difference to her. After watching blu-ray movies on my tv though, I think she would be able to tell the difference if we went back to watching DVD's.

That way you can hang out and talk smack to their face. I know that a lot of people won't want to buy one just for "minimal" differences, but I'm kinda crazy like that. And I agree: MS should have had HDMI from the start, but honestly, better late than never.
I agree, LAN parties are awesome.
The reason why I won't buy a 360 is because MS always forgets about it's customer who have purchased their pass consoles. I went to EB GAMES to purchase a XBOX controller S and I was told that MS no longer makes them
