Just wanted to let people know that I'm glad I did. True, it didn't come with a transfer cable, but I can wait a couple of days until they send it to me (if you only buy the HDD, then the transfer cable comes with it, otherwise MS will send it to you). Anywho, on to the reason why I'm happy I bought it: picture quality. I tested it on my 50" Pioneer Elite 1080p monitor. I used two copies of NBA: Street Homecourt (which is one of the few 360 games that outputs natively in 1080p). I put one copy in my old 360 that was hooked up via component and one copy in the Elite that was hooked up via HDMI and set to 1080p. I went to the same level in both games and then I switched back and forth between inputs so I could compare them. The difference to me was immediate. Everything was sharper and the image looked crisper on the Elite. The edge around character models on my old 360 looked slightly blurrier. I was not expecting as big a difference as I saw. To me, PQ is everything so this totally justified my purchase.
