This is why i told the OP of that "other" thread that if you move the mic back a little from where you have it, your numbers might be a little higher. now you dont have to do it that way you can change it your self. but i think its better to let audyssey set everything and leave it the way it is. yes i do change stuff after i run adyssey, but only by like 2 db. the OP changed his trims all the way up to +10!

Of course the numbers will be different, but it is still bad advice to tell them to put the mic anywhere but in the actual listening position.

An example from my own personal experience..... I moved my rear towers back about a foot and changed the tow on them a bit. I noticed that echoes became much more pronounced than they should have been. Like when people are talking in the lab in CSI..... what should have been a soft echo... sounded almost like they were talking in an echo chamber.

Yes.... I moved the speakers and not the mic.... but it's the same effect. Audyssey had set the delay for my rear towers based upon their original position relative to the actual listening position. Moving my towers just a little resulted in the delay being quite off. The error in delay would be the same if the mic is not put in the correct listening position during calibration because reference voulme is not the only thing Audyssey is measuring for.
