I honestly don't know for sure. I've read before that you're only supposed to use the mic that came with the receiver, but I don't know if that's substantiated or not. I would recommend you call Onkyo customer service and ask them first.

Yea I'd call them up and ask them. Of course you have the possiblity that they will tell you you have to use onkyo just to make you use their's. And then you'd have to buy another. or....maybe you'll get lucky and they will say say sure go ahead not a problem. SUCKS though still yor dog got ahold of it.

I broke the mic for my onkyo 806 and ordered one from onkyoshop.com for $20. I tried the mic from my yamaha v661 and the results were off. I spoke the the audessey on avsforum and he told me the mics are calibrated for each receiver. The onkyo mic calibrated the speakers around 75db and the yamaha was around 85db. The mic from onkyoshop.com was delivered through regular mail in less than a week. Hope this helps.

This is from Audyssey's FAQ page.
Quote:
Is the microphone calibrated?
Yes, the microphone is calibrated to a 1/4" industry-standard measurement microphone. The correction is applied to the measurements as they are being taken. It is important to use ONLY the designated microphone that comes with the product as the calibration curve built-in to the product is specific to that microphone. It is also critical to point the microphone upwards and to place it at ear height. Any other microphone will have different characteristics and thus will not produce the right results.

Hi everybody. I am looking to buy a replacement mic for my onkyo ts-xr607 av receiver. shoponkyo.com is great but they don't send to Europe. I tried the local onkyo agent in Greece as well sent email to onkyo europe, but it is no go.

Any idea where to get one online from a retailer that sends to Greece?

Do you have an Onkyo dealer in your area. If so I would get in contact with them and see if they can put you in touch with their distributor. Maybe the distributor could help you get one.

I already contacted the distributor. They can't sell the microphone alone...

Have you tried the service point for Greece:

Issagogiki Emboriki Ellados S.A.
321 Mesogion Avenue 152 31 Chalandri
Tel: +30 210 6721200
Fax: +30 210 6740204

With the part number I don't see why they couldn't order a new part.

I contacted them on Monday. The first time they would pass me back and forth between sales and service. Finally they asked for my phone number and name to call me back. They never called.

Today I called them again. After some thought the girl at sales quoted a price of 60 euro. I would have to pay up front, then they would order it. It would arrive in 10-15 days, and I would have to arrange with a courier service to pick it up from their offices and deliver it to me (they are in Athens, I am in another city). That would be total about 75 euro. I got the receiver for 360euro new...

Wow. What a load of crap. Any chance anyone you know has an Onkyo receiver and would let you borrow their microphone?

Wow, what a scam!

Any chance you could buy another receiver, do your calibration using the mic and then return it... Or ask the store to lend it to you.

It really is a scam. I bought the receiver from a shop in Germany as the greek dealer has a set price of 710 euro. Almost double price!. Anyway, seems like I have sorted it out. I will keep you informed...
