Rediculous and illogical. What we heard needs no backstory. His behavior can NOT be justified.

there's a difference in wanting and doing. in bale's case, the doing was what was highly childish and inappropriate imo
I completly agree. No matter how big a star you are you don't treat someone else like that. From listening to it it sounds like Bale was doing a scene and the guy was trying to work with one of the lights and Bale could see him. It sounded like something very petty was done and Bale just blew it.

Here I realize that I may have not been a little clear on some stuff. It seems have already labled him as complete idiot or douchebag for this event. Was it idiotic? Yes. What is a douche move? Yes. I'm just saying I find it a little ludicrous that somebody can be labled something over one incident. Forget the past 20 years he could have been as a good guy, this 5 minute clip triumphs all. That's what I see wrong. I just don't see how people can form a strong opinion on him that will probably never budge. Doing one thing idiotic doesn't make a person an idiot. If a murderer said something nice to me I would hail him as a nice pleasant person.

i've been on the wrong end of some of these in the past. not to this extent obviously, but yeah, there's nothing quite like negative reinforcement.

again, i don't agree w/what he did, but i can understand why he might have. some days u just got to get stuff off of your chest, this guy just happend to be in the wrong place @ the wrong time.

To be perfectly honest, I can understand his frustration, but, it was taken a bit too far. The one thing that I couldn't believe was the way he was treating the director.

+1. it's not like someone walked in and shot him in the foot. the DP went to ADJUST A LIGHT. even if bale was frustrated, it's completely unnecessary to call him out in front of the entire crew, and to take it as far as he did. completely exaggerated the situation. yeesh, someone get the guy a warm bottle of milk

I understand and respect what you have said. My OPINION (and its correct ) is that certain behaviors, regardless of how infrequent, reveal the true character of a person. Its there under the surface all the time, and only emerges when the person loses control, revealing the truth. In other words, the nice guy is an act.

Lets look at it this way....and I have seen this on bonus material.

An actor is in the middle of a super difficult, super serious, heavy emotional scene.....then someone on set drops something, or a car (not in the movie) honks its horn and the whole crew bursts into laughter...usually led by the actor who got trumpted by the goof. I have seen Depp go hug a Mic guy who dropped a mic and almnost hit him.

If I acted like Bale toward a coworker....uh....my boss wouldnt tolerate it. Would yours?

So how hard was it for him to get into character for American Psycho?

I kinda agree with Blu-Benny. Acting is not as easy as it looks and if you're REALLY working hard on a scene and someone crosses your sight lines it f**ks you up. And if you listen to the whole track the DP did it twice. Seriously, we'll be the first to complain if his acting was bad or if he was just BS-ing his way thought this movie. Okay, put it this way. Let's say you work at a job where they're spending about $100,000 a day and at the end of the day you are the one who needs to get it right or the whole day is shit. Someone keeps distracing you while the most important part of the day is going on. I think I would tell them to please stop doing that the first time. But the second time I would be mighty PISSED!!!

lol. When Michael Richards (Kramer) flipped out on those black guys the season of Seinfeld that was released on DVD around that time was the best selling of them all.

You had it perfectly nailed until that last sentence. So in other words you're saying, the only behavior that I expect from this person is to cuss out other people. Let's take all the sins that every person including yourself have committed in your entire lifetime and that's who you truly are. I would agree with you if Christian Bale was a constant repeat offender, but he isn't. This has been a one time deal.

He must think that he's to big of a star to treat people like human beings any more. He went over the deep end this time. He just doesn't seem like a nice person.

No, not the only behavior. We will see many behaviors. But the truth is when someone vents. Thats whats been bottled up.

We are all a sum of our parts, good and bad. I have made many mistakes in life.

Bales INTENT was to hurt and humiliate another person, not to resolve a problem in a constructive way. His desire and intent was to damage at a core level. Thats all I am saying.
