Chipping is a problem on BD cases. The plastic is softer than the plastic used for dvd cases, which really do not have these problems in mass numbers. The soft, translucent plastic also leads to it being much tougher to cleanly pull off the security tags inside the BD case. Again, this was less of an issue with dvd. For all I know the studios consider this a security "enhancement", but frankly it becomes a pain for lawful customers.

It is a "feature" provided to retailers as a theft deterrent.

I've searched for ages for replacement Elite cases without luck. Are you looking at a "private" supplier or an "industrial" supplier? (I don't need 10,000 of them)

Recently bought some replacement "Disney" style cases from Sleevetown but was disappointed. The plastic is cheaper and very badly molded, and several of them were broken (the whole point of getting these was to replace broken ones, etc).

I picked up Silence of the Lambs and noticed a giant "Recycled" logo cut out of the case... Is this something new studios are doing? I'm all for recycling... Just not sure I like the gaping holes cut out.

Man, im tired of receiving my BD cases chipped... I'd say ˝ of the ones I buy from overseas (US) are chipped in the corners.. It really annoys me, but really not a lot I can do about it.. I dont play football with em - but I sure do think the Danish Postal service has run out of soccer balls!

These new BD cases are a wreck... they aren't sturdy enough and they will NOT protect the cover art sleeve fully. I don't mind if they use recycled products for the cases.. but make a FULL case No different then a standard DVD case... I am sure those use far more plastic.

That is interesting... would like to see what they look like... My Third Man came beat up a bit .. not too happy with their cases.. not as sturdy as the standard DVD counterparts and they wear more easily.. but i figured they would change it up after a few releases.

wow that is bad. You could accidently put your finger through the slip cover and rip it by not having a solid backing to it.
