Question What about trading in?

What's the policy re: trading in your used blus? I've seen the "minimum $10" words thrown around, but what's the real scoop? How do they determine what you get and how high does it go?

(Cardman, you can field this if you like!)

well, just to give you a heads up, their $10 trade in minimum is not there this month. it ended at the end of april. so now its whatever their system price says the movies worth. how do they determine this... well their system is based on how much stock they have of that particular titles in their Canadian stores at that point in time. for example.. they sell vantage point and burn after reading for 9.99 and have ample supply of them at the moment, so your prob not gonna get more than $7 bucks for it if you trade it in. but any title thats not easily available or not overstocked on their pre-viewed list of selling titles your gonna get 10 bucks for. ex) from hell, batman begins and fantastic fours can all be found at futureshop or local costco's for 14.99 brand new regularly, but bcuz blockbuster dosent carry them pre-viewed if you trade em in your still getting 10 bucks for them used even thou you only paid 15 new.

just a friendly note for anyone wondering about how much they'll get for a bluray trade in, just make a note of the title name here addressed to me and i'll find out what the value for the film is and post an answer here within 24 hours of your post

I've tried to trade in my Day Watch Blu-ray and they tell me it's not in the system, so they can't take it. Can you find it and if so, what is the value? Thanks.

Thanks, Cardman. You're going above and beyond on this one!

I'm interested in unloading T2 and No Country for Old Men (original release); what do you think?

so stopped by my store on the way back from school and checked out system. turns out what they were telling you is right. there actually is no listing for that title (on bluray) in our system. i saw this with a guy trying to trade in short circut while i worked once. what i ended up doing was giving him a manual credit of 10 bucks for the movie and then calling head-office and having them add it into our inventory. but unless the employee or manager there is willing to give you a manual credit for the movie on the spot, you probably wont be able to trade it in. the other option is having somebody that works there all into head office and tell them to add the title so you could trade it in, but thats pretty time consuming, and unless their as committed as i am i dont see them making the extra effort. the last option is you can try calling h.o and complaining yourself and not being able to trade it in and they may add it or call the store you visit and tell them to give you the manual credit. anyhow, hope these list of options help you out.

Thanks for checking for me. Maybe I'll just try to sell it on eBay.

You always fetch a higher price selling it direct to user - ebay or craiglist or whatever. When you sell to shops, it is 'wholesale' price so they can make a profit. Some people rather sell it 'wholesale' to save time and to eliminate risks.

honestly, i've had great success trading/ selling my titles thru the trade forums here. i'd recommend using that avenue over ebay/ craiglist where they'll take a cut of what your getting. i've completed 10 transactions here and havnt had a bad experience yet. just my two cents. good luck to you on that
