Yeah, you got a point. Even though I prefer the longer "director's cut" (or one of the thousands of other names they have for it), I'd hate to see a crappy Blu-ray just to get a longer version.

Universal has done a great job so far putting out high quality titles. I have faith that this will get the same quality treatment as other catalog releases.

Classis

Is there better extras on the UK or is this better and does the UK have both the theatrical and extended cut on it?

And this is a spoof on The Day That Earth Stood Still (the original) since it's the code to disable the robot from destroying the world...

I only have this on VHS, and the poor quality "Limited Edition Director's Cut" on DVD, so as a fan of the series, I am definitely going to pick this up.

well i have the director's cut s-dvd (94 minutes) and the hd-dvd (81 minutes) so unless this gets released on blu in the 94 minute cut, i'll stick with what i already have.

Actually, ARMY OF DARKNESS is the only film that I prefer the theatrical cut over the director's cut. "I ain't that good." isn't nearly as good a comeback as "Good? Bad? I'm the guy with the gun." And while the alternate ending may be more in spirit with the theme of EVIL DEAD, I just love the ending that has three of the best lines of the film.

"Ma'am, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the store."
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!!!"
"Name's Ash. *loads gun* Housewares."

"I'll swallow your soul!!!"
"Come get some."

"Hail to the king, baby."

Can't wait for it to come out.

I've always in been favor of the post-apocalyptic ending. It's Ash hes such an idiot that he would take an extra drop. lol

I just hope they do the right thing by it, but as we all know this is only the beginning before the double and triple-dips. They love milking the series with all the special editions.

I agree. I just watched the UK release and the picture is utterly awesome in parts (especially daylight scenes). The amount of detail on Ash's face at the start is incredible.

The UK release is the one with the "And I'm a Chinese Jet pilot" line, and the "Good. Bad, I'm the guy with the gun". It is actually my favourite cut of the film. Utterly awesome
