Universal Studios Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring Sam Raimi's 'Army of Darkness: Screwhead Edition' to Blu-ray on May 19th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Coming on a BD-25, video will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p VC-1 accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Extras for this release include:

* U-CONTROL: Universal's exclusive signature feature, U-Control puts viewers one click away from going deeper into the making of the film without ever leaving the movie
o PRODUCTION PHOTOS: Access interactive production photos from the set without interruption to the movie experience.
* BD-LIVE(TM): Access the BD-Live(TM) Center through your Internet-connected player to get even more content, watch the latest trailers, and more!
* MY SCENES: Pick your favorite scenes from the film to create your own video montage.
* ALTERNATE ENDING: See the original ending planned for the film.
* DELETED SCENES: Additional scenes that never played in theaters.
* THE MEN BEHIND THE ARMY: Go behind-the-scenes with star Bruce Campbell.

This one is a sure buy! Have been waiting for a long time...having a region locked UK release has not helped the situation.

awesome! i recently bought and watched Evil Dead II and the ending looked promising for the sequel. i'm definitely getting Army of Darkness.

Great, another film I can upgrade from VHS to Blu-Ray. I have all three Evil Dead movies on VHS and I just need to get Evil Dead 2 and wait for whatever the deal is with Anchor Bay to release the first film.

It's a shame the Blu-Ray will not contain the "Official Bootleg Edition" cut of the film. My local library has it on DVD and my god the PQ is horrible.

I have been looking forward to this one for a while. Universal is rapidly becoming one of my favorite BD studios.

Bruce Campbell is the man. I wish USA would put Burn Notice out on Blu.

I believe that Burn Notice is a Fox studio show so it's up to them.

It's great that Army of Darkness is coming out. Now we just need the first one. Obviously Universal is releasing this to tie-in to Raimi's upcoming horror flick Drag Me to Hell. Hopefully they might announce Darkman as well.

you know on a few of those anchor bay blu-ray films out now... I did notice evil dead 2 on there during the opening teaser showing for anchor bay's horror movies along time ago but has anyone checked out

May is increasingly becoming waaay more expensive for me. 2009 is shaping up to be a killer year for the format.
