Cool Hand Luke for a classic film.

Felon for a more gritty prison flick. Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff are great in this.

I remember Escape From Alcatraz from when I was a child, and it left an impression on me. Clint Eastwood was excellent in it. I saw it again a few years ago and it's was still a great film to me, noting that it was rated PG, which surprised me. Would watch it again easily, and would eventually buy it on Blu-ray if released.

Indeed, The Shawshank Redemption is fantastic. Tim Robbins was solid and Morgan Freeman was flawless. One of the most triumphant movies in the recent years. I think I've said it before on these forums that I could watch the last 15 minutes of this movie every day for the rest of my life. RIP James "Brooksie" Whitmore.

I only recently finally saw The Green Mile. Tom Hanks again shows his versatility as an actor in it. Wonderful flick with a mystical touch to it. Heavy on the heart at times, with a highly moving ending.

American Me was so realistic, the Mexican Mafia was threatening Edward James Olmos's life after the filming of it

Do you guys remember Syvester Stallone and Donald Sutherland in LOCK UP??? Pretty good movie!

Never realized how many I enjoy in the genre until you read the posts. Some classics already mentioned, so I'll add Prison on Fire with Chow Yun Fat.

I'm going to throw "25th Hour" into the mix, I know it's not exactly a "Prison Film" but it does have the theme and setting of going to prison. Anyway, great performances all around.
