That would be cool.....and if they chose to do it based on the classic Fury instead of Ultimate Fury, that would be cooler. And if they got David Hasselhoff to play Fury, that would be cooler still.

The best part is if the movie is so awesome that it completely bypasses theaters and goes straight to television.

Seriously...how awesome would that be???

Sounds like good news for the survival of the Marvel movies leading up to the Avengers and beyond if this is true. Now they need to complete casting for Iron Man 2 and Thor so they can get those projects going.

Thinking about it, I'm wondering if this isn't part of Marvel's negotiating strategy. If it is, it's a good move. Why sign an actor on to do little cameos on movies leading up to the Avengers, regardless of the size of his role in the Avengers, when you can work a contract for all of it and lock him in. When you add up the total time that he would be on screen from the possible 9 movies, the screen time would probably translate to a starring role in 1 or 2 regular movie. This would make the actor salary justifiable and they would not have to worry about the actor asking for more money for each individual movie.

As far as the 3 or 4 unknown movies, I'm guessing that Iron Man 3 might be part of the 9. I remember reading somewhere about Paramount having open slots in their slate since they split from DreamWorks. This gap would allow them to pick up distribution rights for at least 3 more movies from Marvel.

It's going to be an awesome few years of cinema, and that's likely why the contract negotiations took so long, Marvel is saying "if you sign on now, you'd be signing on for a few movies so consider that, and this large sum of cash"

Funniest thing is, Marvel is making a movie studio based around their comics, not a movie studio owning the comics, and they're making money hand over fist doing it to.

Logan
My thought is that some of those 9 films might be sequels...maybe Avengers 2, Captain America 2, etc.

Anyways, this is great news!
