The receivers feet allow for proper airflow (bottom vent holes). Unless you use ventilated shelves, I'd put the feet back on.

It's on a glass shelf with no back and no front. Should be good? And it won't fit unless their off. The shelf has no adjustment.

So..back to one of my ??

Leave the Sony 300 on Auto or change it to PCM?

And also what listening mode do i set it to? I see THX but that can't be correct all the time or can it? My Denon just had auto on it and it played whatever the native audio was that was sent to it? I don't see a setting like that on the 805?

EDIT:
Onkyo TXSR805 Manual:

I highly recommend you download the manual:

That's why I asked again about the setting on the 300 cuz one guy says Bitsream/Auto HDMI and another says PCM. I have it on PCM now. I have all the settings on PCM...Dolby, too.

You set the audio to Direct, and it plays the native PCM signal from your player. For audio, you can use Pure Audio

Wow!! Sounds great! I hooked up a mic to it and got the sound levels set, too. I might get a BDPS 350 or 550 and try to get the 7.1 system going.

Sad to say....I turned it on this morning and no sound. And then it started to smoke. I think the PS is out again. I need to get rid of it. I'm sure it's because it got too hot sitting on the shelf without the legs on it and no ventillation. Back to the Denon I guess. The 805 will go on CL or ebay...broken as is.

The 805s do run very hot. Bummer about it not working now. You gave it a good run...

I'm going to put it on ebay or craigslist unless someone here is interested in it. It just needs a power supply. I don't want to put anymore money into it. Offer me something for it.

No offense, but that's assuming that's the only issue, since it's now happened twice. It's too bad, I was really rooting for you on this one.

Honestly, you'll get a good sale price for it on ebay. I'm amazed at the "as-is" auctions.

Ya..actually one just went on ebay that was broken... for parts... for $185 plus $40 shipping!! And it was...silver.. I couldn't believe how many people bid on it!! I just thought I'd throw on here first. Figured there would be someone here who'd like to give it a go and save money. Like I said before..once I got the PS in it it worked fine but it was just in a small space with no ventilation (and no feet!). I didn't realize how hot they actually get!!

It is a great receiver. I think you should get a new PS, fix it, and put it in an area where there is ample ventilation. Mine gets probably 150 degrees plus with complete ventilation. All Onkyo amps run hot and are designed to handle it (but need the ventilation to cope). Give it another try. It will be worth it in the long run. If you fix it, you could get a significantly larger profit if you get it working and sell it.
