I contacted pioneer corporate. This is what they told me:
Me: there are so many people yelling one way or another about your plasmas..Which one is really the best out of these? KRP-500M, PRO-111FD?..Also aside from the speakers and 1 is thinner than the other..are there no difference between the tv and the monitor on these? is there anything about the KRP's that make them superior or inferior in anyway to the elites because i have heard that the resolution on them is as good or better but i don't know of anywhere for me to go see one in person. Thank you Pioneer: Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc. I have attached a document to compare the Elite monitor to the Elite TV. The KRP 500 model is basically the same as the PRO-101FD sig elite. With the 111fd Elite model you gain: 2 year warranty ISF calibration Speaker connections Thank you. He is saying the KRP 500 is basically the sig elite 101fd. Either he means both are monitor panels in that they function similarly, OR... he means they PERFORM similar. If he means the latter - ![]() My question now is... Given that a sig elite is better than an elite.....is an ISF calibrated elite better than a professionally calibrated KRP or sig elite, ? That will make my decision on whether ot get KRP or elite. Last edited by xcntuatd77; 05-01-2009 at 02:37 PM. |

![]() Blu-ray looks awesome, cable not as good as I only have component out on my old cable box I guess. What do people think of necessity of break in discs? I'm planning on just watching TV, movies on it and a couple weeks later then calibrate it. |

Break in discs are religion to alot of people.
I'm not one of them. I set my TV for FULL SCREEN on everything, left factory settings to default (brightness, gamma, etc etc) set everything to Auto, put it in pure mode and let it run 24/7 for over a week. I watched movies on it and made sure to avoid channels that have logos when possible. I made absolutely sure to avoid logo channels when I went to bed at night (left the TV running). This has worked well for my unit. I went into the settings yesterday and applied D-Nice's calibration settings. Man....this picture is beautiful. But even the factory default settings are beautiful. |

Here is another question I have...in regards to D-Nice's setting, do you guys leave this on all the time, or modify it in regards to what type of image you are watching? ie Sports, Movies, TV etc... Oh and another question...what channel do you set it to that doesn't have logos LOL? It seems every channel has it's logo on to me. Last edited by fronk777; 05-23-2009 at 01:17 AM. |

As for channels...if you leave you TV running all night, you can leave it on one of the independent channels (Warner Brother network, etc) as they tend to have movies running all night long. Most network affiliates tend to run movies all night long as well with no logo. I can't remember if shows like Jay Leno etc uses logos though. But once you get past the late night talk shows, you're golden. I'll be interested in seeing my electric bill this month : ) |
