One of Mel Brooks funniest movie, of cause it was necessary.

Also on topic, singer Alan Doyle of the Canadian Celtic group Great Big Sea is playing Alan A'Dalaye.

It seem in this story the French will be the bad guys (I suppose they mean Normands)

Probably not necessary, but still a great and funny Mel Brooks film.

I loved Men in Tights.

"No, not Abe Lincoln, I said 'Hey Blinkin', hold the reigns man!"

"A chastity belt! That's going to chafe my willy!"

"That's right. Every time they make a Robin Hood movie, they burn our village down!"

i do too ...cant believe it's almost 20 years old. im so tired of people hating on it JUST because of the accent issue. if you didnt like the movie, that's one thing, and even if you didn't like it just because of the accent that's your opinion, but i think it's such a weak and stupid reason to hate a movie

And they go great being watched back to back. All of these "Movie" parody's could learn something by watching some old Mel Brookes films.

I must be alone here but ever since I watched this movie, I have always found Cary Elwes to be very annoying. Seems like everybody I know loves this movie, but I didn't. And I even loved Blazing Saddles, so must just be I don't find mocking Robin Hood funny.

+1

It's an extremely stupid and shallow reason to dislike a movie.

It's not just the accent thing, cause when I was 6 I never noticed that, but I outgrew that movie rather fast and a couple years ago when I tried watching it again, I was just shocked at how much I didn't like this. The casting was horrible, and I usually enjoy most of the actors especially Slater but they just weren't right for this. It hasn't held up over time, I would compare this to First Knight on level of crapiness.

I'll admit that I don't hate the movie, but it was a pretty generic action film masquerading as a Robin Hood movie.

The accent issue is funny, if you think about it. No one in 12th Century England spoke with anything resembling a modern English accent (they barely spoke what we'd recognize as the English language), so all the British actors were no more authentic than Costner.

It is great fun, which is what a Robin Hood movie is suppose to be, it's like I always say the movies do not change, they are what they are, it's us who outgrow them unfortunatly

I'm kind of surprised to see Crowe with short hair for this, since from State of Play he already had long locks. Pulled it off pretty well in Master and Commander too.

However Crowe + Scott = I'm there. Even just Ridley Scott doing a new picture is enough for me to take note. Here's the rest of the cast:
Agreed, those made the movie fun when I was 6 but at 23 those scenes no longer appeal to me, lol. As for Russell's hair he said he was actually just very tired of having the long hair, he'd had it for several movies now and just wanted a change. And hey anything resembling Gladiator for Robin Hood is definitely an approved image for me. I'm sure the first released image is like someone else mentioned it's probably from the beginning of the movie and not how he'll look throughout. And hey if it is, I'm still ok with it, I'm not sure how Crowe will look in a feathered cap though lol. Yes that has been used in many of the movies, but it's just an idea from hollywood, and obviously since the Robin Hood legend is so diverse he could easily not wear the hat and it's no more realistic than any other legend of Robyn Hoode.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed Body of Lies, but it certainly didn't have that Crowe/Scott feel to it, like Gladiator. I am really hoping this a return to epicness here!

I am quite bothered by Leo Dicaprio's inability to grow facial hair yet still continuing to try throughout several movies now, lol. That was rather annoying through Body of Lies. Actors like him and Keanu should know when you have very poor facial hair in real scale it makes things very distracting on a giant movie theater screen, haha. Leo has been growing this since Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can AND Body of Lies.
