It clearly matters to some people. I'm more concerned with the transfer of the film and even the cover art. A lack of disc art doesn't really bother me, but I do admit I'm pleased when I do see a nice disc art. I don't think it's a 'make' or 'break' detail, though, when someone is deciding whether or not to purchase a film.

I recently bought the 2-disc Titanic DVD that came out in 2007 and both discs are gray just like my Anchorman DVD, just like my Zodiac DVD and HD DVD, and on and on. If they aren't willing to give decent cover artwork for a movie that has made around $5 billion for them, then it's not shocking how crappy their artwork is for every other movie. The disppointing thing to me is that it's difficult to read the damn title. I would not mind the gray discs at all if the titles of the movies were printed in black so that you can easily tell you've got the right disc.

I purchased the Titanic 3-disc collector's set that came out in 05 or 06. The packaging is VERY nice, and there was disc art for that release. I also had the original Titanic dvd released ages ago, and it had the gray disc that is all too common with Paramount.

I don't care, though, if they release Titanic on Blu Ray with nice disk art or none at all. IT'd be awesome to see that film in Blu if it's done right. It gets a bad rep from people criticizing it as a chick flick. It does have many of those elements, but as a Titanic buff (I was so as a kid even before this film), I was very pleased with the overall film.

Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of sh$#. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. I personally like disc and cover art, but the lack of it or 'bad' art will not deteer me from buying a BD with good AQ/PQ.

Cover art will help to sell the movie, if it is enticing when the customer picks it up, then it has done it's job. I pick out a lot of books that way, if the cover looks intreguing, I will check out the back of the book and read a few pages, if the cover is boring, I put it right back. I know you can't judge a book by it's cover, but when you're looking at hundreds of them to find one, you have to narrow it done somehow.

Disk art to me is pretty useless. I don't display the disk, just the spine of my movies. I barely even look at the disk when I load it to play, the only one I've noticed that I remember was Dirty Harry because it is part of a larger picture and it was turned so threw off the gun, and caught my eyes. The rest of the time, it could be solid bright yellow like evolution for all it's worth to me. I would rather the studios put more effort into making the spines and covers of the case itself look good for when I've got it on display, and when I am browsing for a new movie.

i'm just glad it aint like some old school dvds in my collection where it had no kind of plastic covering on the top or bottom and the only way to tell what the title was to take out your reading glasses and look at some small writing on the out ring of the dvd. So i wouldnt compain atleast its not like that anymore

All new titles do. The only Paramount titles without lossless are the ones released before they switched to HD DVD, and one or two released since they came back that were actually authored (just not released) before the HD DVD switch.

I found this to be true with the patriot games as well... seems if they could skimp on art work and disk printing mabey they could drop the price from 35 to 25 lol but its all good at least the movie quality is top notch.

The disc art isn't my main concern, it's the CHEAP COVER ART! Half the time they don't even fit within the Blu-ray case without looking wavy and nasty. Even my GF noticed how cheap they look for the asking price and that's without me even saying anything about it

It would be nice if they made more of an effort with disc art...but honestly, I only see the disc when I take it out of the case and put it into the player. Speaking of the appearance of titles, it bugs me how all region a titles on blu are in smaller cases than region b titles on blu. I have several region free us titles which arent out here in Europe. The size difference is significant & quite annoying!!! Anyone else noticed & annoyed by this or is it just me?!?

I noticed this on Shine a Light too. At least with Cloverfield it was stylized and all "scratched up" like it had been recovered from a disaster zone.

No, those ones (both from the same company) are in these weird cases with non-rounded edges and no Blu-ray logo printed on the front. The width is still the same as any Region A.
