Well, perhaps you should read people's posts a bit more closely before being so dismissive of their opinion.

My original post:-

I got the set earlier this week, and I'm very happy with it.

Not too keen on the packaging, but the films themselves look great to me.

Having said that, I thought The Untouchables looked great and couldn't really see what all the fuss was about.

Very sharp picture, there are a few spots of dirt in places on some shots, but generally very good.

I've only looked at a few select scenes so far though, aside from the Star Trek Summit which I watched last night and thought was quite entertaining.

Sorry if I'm behind the times on this...but how are the movies packaged?

In the UK they are in 7 thin cases, with very minimal cover art. Each one has the face of a different crewmember on them in silver ink.

They are packaged in a white slipcase which is okay. It's decent thickness to the card, and has a Trek insignia on it with a lenticular picture of the Enterprise on it.

All the text is on a clear plastic outersleeve which goes over the slipcase.

The back and the bottom of the box is a thick plastic card, glued to the back of the plastic sleeve, which lists information about the films, technical specs etc.

It's not bad, but I think I would have preferred a single plastic case like The Original Series.

The menu screens are fairly uninspiring too, but they are all consistent, and I suppose that's what they're going for with the set - a consistent look across all 6 films.

Some might find it classy - I suppose it depends on your taste - I would have preferred original poster artwork on each movie.

Also, from the DVD vs the blu-ray screenshot link provided earlier (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=263), it looks like a pretty good improvement over the DVD to me.
These screencaps look even worse than the Patton screencaps...

A few of us are working of custom covers for this set, they are all looking cool, here's mine - haven't finished the backs because I haven't seen the actuals yet... in regular size not slim cases... so for those who dont like the boring covers, there will be options!!

Heres the first 3

Default a review(fromthe uk version)

Movie: 5
Video: 4.5
Audio: 4
Extras: 5
Overall: 4.5

A safe buy
First of all, after reading the comments on the forum about, that only "the wrath of kahn" had been fully been restored worked over by paramount i tought oh my gosh wat did i orderd

But.....

It,s truth that the second episode has been fully digital overworked and the video, some 3 d scenes and the close-up of the faces looked better than on the other episodes but....

I,m not shure if thats a plus , all the other episodes have a more filmisch look sticked closer to the original, i don,t have the dvd,s to compare.

Lets face the fact that all these episodes look very good on blu ray (not reference during al these movies) but that could have only been achieved, if possible at all by to much cgi work, and i,m shure that wouldn,t benifit the movies.

The Sound
Well we have been used to listen to a lot of special effect driving movies, don,t expect this on star fleet(there are a few) mostly it,s the small little things we hear from the surroundspeakers

I,m in the middle of the last episode right now and i must say

I enjoyed what i saw and heard till now, all the writing and negatieve comment and remarks on the forum, made me doubt myself if i made the right choice.

Guess what i did....

(i,m curious if the reviews from the staff here will be likewise)
I own the uk version

This isn't a safe buy from what I've been reading through discussions on folks I've come to trust. I'll look towards any and all opinions but I ain't buying till I rent and see for myself.

Has there been any news about releasing this set with more than just theatrical versions in the future? Like when Abrams Star Trek goes to Blu? If so, I am going to hold off.

As of yesterday I have finally seen a Star Trek Episode. I've watched the first Three episodes. So far I've actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm not in love with it yet though but I'm interested in seeing the whole series.

So once again, as i've said many times in the past few weeks in not just this message board but others.. I'm torn between should I cancel my movies preorder or not?
When exactly do the movies start taking place? Are any of them important to view before some episodes?

Does anyone else find it strange that such a huge fanboy/cult release is less then a week away and we haven't seen any reviews yet (at least not official ones, no offence to users who have posted their opinions)

Either the discs are not that great and paramount is just trying to keep the negative word down hoping people rush out and buy these in a fit of star trek hysteria after seeing the new movie this weekend, or they don't feel that they need to be early reviewed at all to sell more copies

what gives if this was the 6 star wars movies we would have been seeing reviews pop up for the last 2 weeks

The movies are set several years after the Enterprise has returned from its five-year mission. While not crucial, I'd recommend watching "Space Seed" before seeing The Wrath of Kahn. Films 1 and 5 are pretty much stand alone episodes, while 2, 3, 4, and 6 form a loose quadrilogy, and should be watched in sequence.

Knowing Lucas, the reviews would be embargoed.

I do find this odd, and very concerning.

I have it pre-ordered at Amazon and will likely cancel. Will order it Wal-Mart Site to Store instead. Same price, easier to return if the reviews are poor. Would rather wait for the 10 movies set fully restored...
