Diablo 2 and the Warcraft series are my favorite games ever, but Diablo 3 is not worth 1500$. I'd ignore it and not even think twice about it.

Fair point, but I guess I don't know anybody seriously building up their iPhone game collection. Maybe there are and I just don't know em.

Because most browsers on most phones are not nearly as user friendly as apps made specifically for the phone. I have and Amazon app on the phone.... it's great for shopping on the go. My Netflix app on the phone is MUCH easier to use than it would be to pull up Netflix on my mobile browser. There are tons of apps that one COULD accomplish the same thing by opening your mobile browser...... but purpose specific apps are just a much better experience.

You can also play Metal Gear Solid, Myst, Super Monkey Ball, Spore, and plenty of other more serious games on the iphone as well.

One of Blizzard's biggest selling points is that they aren't computer hogs, so people don't need to upgrade to play their games. Given that, how many people are going to rush out to buy a whole new (arguably) overpriced computer just to play said game?
I disagree.

First of all they'd pump out a marketing campaign stating such, along with some of the videos that I've seen coming out of Blizzard for the release of Starcraft 2.

As someone else already said, All of Korea would be on board, and that would likely pay for a fair chunk of purchasing Blizzard.

To say that Starcraft and Diablo {not to mention WoW} are extremely popular would be an understatement.

They are aiming at the college crowd with the new pictochat and camera system and the older age groups with the cooking recipe "game".

It's not a game though because it's more like an interactive cook book. Plus Beyonce in that Rhythm game commercial.

They show those commercials during prime time.

It's not the goal and I'm not saying that it will happen, but if it did, it would show that hardcore gamers can be woo'd over with a single title.

Like me, I got woo'd to the PS3 with the BD player and with MGS. Then KZ2.

Actually I feel the same way about ANY portable device that you do about iphone games. If I want to game seriously.... I just wait until I get home because IMO the gaming offered on ANY portable device is just sub par in comparison to more hardcore console gaming. I know there are some who love to game on their portable devices.... but I believe they are a minority and most people just want simple little time passers for their portable gaming wants.

Yeah I didn't pay attention either until one day I was watching Dinesy channel with my niece and the tone of the DS commercials is so different from those I mentioned. They are trying to make the DSi into what it is in Japan. A device everyone needs.

i think the 100+ million gameboy owners would say otherwise

plus you've already got ps1 games on the psp, rumored xbox 3d games (whatever that means) on the new zune...so its not just crappy portable versions anymore

i think you just love your iphone and or apple wayyyyy too much

Disagree all you want. How many people are going to consider two games worth 1500$+?

If you think the answer is a significant amount I'd claim you are nuts.

As to the Korea thing, I was under the impression that Starcraft took off in Korea because of Internet-cafes and not because every Korean owned the game. Is this incorrect?

More that it took off because for some reason Koreans have an natural ability to be gods at the game. Which is why Blizzard made the announcement for SC2 there. They even televise matches.

My computer won't run either, I only have a laptop, and I will be building a new pc once the specs are released and a release date is announced.

In Korea and a few other places, alot.

I'd consider getting a Mac for Starcraft 2. {if I wasn't smart and didn't already have one}

Considering the number of people that already have Macs and the number of people in Korea, you'd be nuts not to.

It's practically a Korean national sport.

LOL... well my iPhone is my first and only Apple product so far. I got one for my wife for Christmas.... and loved it so much I had to get myself one. It's also my first cell phone because I am just not a phone person... but this device is soooo much more than a cell phone. The apps are what make this device useful and hella fun... and the iPhone just has infinitely more apps than any other cell phone available today.

BTW... I'd venture to say that I spend as much time.... if not more time... playing games on my iPhone as I do on my PS3, 360 & Wii combined.

See to me a touch makes sense. Its a great media player and if I want to use the internet it has WiFi. I can't justify the added cost of the iPhone plus monthly + internet pricing(which is mandatory to get it).

Plus no matter how great you make a touchscreen they will always pale in comparison to a qwerty keyboard.

If I had more money I would buy a Mac but honestly, I can't afford Apple products.

I considered the touch......but then I realized how many times I wanted access to internet apps when I am nowhere near wi-fi.... so I sprang for the phone. Since I don't really use it as a phone much... I got the lowest talk and text plans so it really didn't add that much to our cell bill.

It's awkward at first.... just like most new interfaces..... but within a few days I could fly on it with very few errors. When 3.0 comes out there will be landscape texting for most apps that use texting so it will be even easier then.
