Yuuuuuup, passing on this title now. I refuse to pay full price for something that I know is flawed. Certainly wouldn't call it minor either.

I'll just stick to my DVD version of the film until this is properly addressed.

Even with the problem, the release far surpasses the audio performance of most BDs.

A dead channel for over 30 minutes (the films climax) is not a reason to hold off? It surely must have a horribly unbalanced "feel". And after 90 minutes of surround, the loss of the channel must feel jarring.

I will error on the side of caution and wait for more info before buying.

It's not dead. There is bass content audible in the right surround which digitalfreakNY didn't pick up.

I don't think its so much that he is defending but that he is still majorly impressed by the audio even though the right surround is not that active for the last part of the movie.

At first, digitalfreakNY didn't realize the right rear channel was fully engaged for the first 133 minutes of the film, so I wouldn't cast him as the end-all be-all of audio perception.

As for the rest of you, you need to LISTEN before casting judgment.

Since it is clearly a defect, isnt it best to recommend that your readers hold off while you contact Uni to see what their intentions are? It just seems that so many BD consumers are quite critical of PQ and AQ issues, that you may want to play it safe. I know a lot of folks on this site are more into AQ than PQ and I assume this issue will be a huge let down like it was for the OP. Just seems like the safe/right thing to do for the readers.

I posted the link to the thread over at the Digital Bits' insider thread also. I'm disappointed that an error like this could slip through QA and have to think they'll do a fix at some point.

Thanks. Good move. Allthough I have not seen/heard the BD yet, I can say that I am fairly certain this would deeply bother me, and I'd prefer to avoid the whole exchange hassle with Amazon or Uni.

On the contrary, the performance of "Chaiyya Chaiyya" even on the closing credits with the omission of treble/midrange from the right surround is absolute audio bliss.

So if I'm getting this correct, this issue will have no effect on those of us that do not have surround sound. This is one of my favorite movies, and for about $20 is still worth a buy in my opinion.

I agree...they might delay this movie awhile or offer an exchange being as it isn't even released yet.
